CMBS Warning message
CMBS Warning message
got a system warning message this morning on 130 mile trip. Happened about 6 or 7 times in a 30 minute period.
Turned on ACC and appeared to be working, but then I noticed a very slight ding sound that happened sporadically. Not as loud as when car engages in front. Then I noted the green light on the "P" button flickering. I'm thinking that the radar was going off for a split second and then coming back on. Not enough to disengage ACC, but enough to trigger the CMBS system

Although no one seems to are, here's an update
I washed car to make sure there was nothing in way of sensor. I'm still getting the warning intermittently - most often right after strartup. However, the message goes away and the "i" alert warning is not present. I also notce the green light on the Parking Sensor button flickers when the warning comes up, but also flickers on its own intermittently without the warning.

Sounds like a random sensor going bad.
Do you have a code reader? If so, have you tried to see if there are any stored codes?
Does rebooting the car (turn off, open door, close door) get rid of the error?
I'd say it's dealer time, honestly.
As my dealer said when I brought my car in a couple weeks ago....."too much technology in these cars nowadays".....and it was a YOUNG person saying that, LOL!

I don't have a code reader. The message goes away in a second or 2 and there is no latent warning message like the "i" with other warnings.
When I bought my 2004 RL, I was interviewed in a NY Times article about too much technology in cars. I was quoted in the article along with a few others. Not sure how they even found me
