I'm a newbie to the forums, since I am a newbie to the RLX SH. I picked up a beautiful Bellanova White Pearl 2016 RLX SH with seacoast interior last week in NJ. Dealer maintained, one owner, 65k miles. Lovely car so far. I was drawn to the car mostly by its powertrain, elegance, and quiet/comfortable interior (about to have a commute).
I'm looking to raid the local braintrust on bike transportation options. I'm considering:
Mounting a 1-1/4" CURT hitch to the back (I was shocked they made one for the RLX...) and using a platform bike rack. This would NOT be for towing.
Installing a Yakima Jetsream/Baseline system with a bike mount on it.
Using a Seersucker suction system just for when I need to move the bike around.
I have a hardtail mountain bike and just ride locally, always < 2 hrs driving. Anyone have experience in this area, and able to offer advice?
i'd concur with the third option. I have an RLX Hybrid but don't carry bikes with it. I have an MDX that I've carried bikes with a hitch-mounted rack, and there is a fair amount of flex to the bikes with a strong carrier and a 2" receiver. I'd imagine a 1 1/4" receiver with a bike rack would be less "stable" (side-to-side flex) without strapping, so at that point a trunk-mounted temporary rack would be just as good - and likely better.....

Just had this exact issue yesterday when going out biking with the Brother In Law. He had a 1 1/4" Thule bike carrier in a 2" receiver. The flex was unnerving so he tied down both sides with the ratcheting straps.. I had the Seasucker Bomber in my trunk but he opted to use this carrier for this trip. We will be using the Seasucker for subsequent trips moving forward
