Am I the only one who thinks the parking brake ...
... operation is counter-intuitive?
For ME, it would make more sense to push the button to set the brake, then lift it up to release it. For whatever reason, Acura decided to make it the opposite.
My salesman could only shrug and say he figured it was to mimic the "pull up to set" manual e-brake on lesser vehicles. Having just come from an RDX - where you push (with your foot) to set AND to release, I find myself repeatedly stabbing and pulling at the parking brake button to set or release it. (Yes, I know I can just release it my pressing the accelerator, but that seems a little awkward when backing out of a blind parking space.)
I'll get used to it eventually, but I just wonder if I'm the only one who thinks it's backwards.

I have the same problem, Up or Down...It is probably going to rely on muscle memory. Only hope I don't forget which direction in an emergency....At least you can see which is which on the dash indicator.
Anybody tried to see what happens if you set it and then turn off and lock the vehicle.

I think it's like you said Mike, it was done to mimic a real-life manual parking brake. you pull to set, you push to release.
It's worked pretty well for me and was pretty intuitive from the start.

Or maybe so you don't accidentally set it by inadvertently pushing on it with something??? Easier to push on something by mistake than pull up on it.

These kinds of things are probably here to stay and I guess I just need to get used to it.

Either way, I use the hell out of the brake hold feature. I had that in my Lexus LS460 and it made me want it in every car I'll ever own. My knee hates sitting at lights keeping constant pressure on the brake pedal.

Mike, it's the same in my V wagon. Pull up to activate, push down to deactivate. Makes sense to me!

Yes... I think because it's electronic the impulse is to depress to set and lift to release.. at least that's the way I reason my fumbling with it..
