2014 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid Multiple Message Problem
My 2014 has 100,250 miles it is now throwing multiple messages Hill assist system problem, brake hold problem, brake system problem, with the yellow light “Brake System” sometimes it will also say AWD system problem which will turn on the yellow light on “Power System” took it to Acura they said I need a new rear differential costing me a whooping $11,000 any feedback would be greatly appreciated also note that the rear differential does not make any winding noises. Someone told me could be electrical problem. Could it be a bad computer. Don’t know but Acura of Wappingers Falls was no help

Have you owned the car from new or purchased used? If you have owned it since new, have you replaced the battery recently or more than 3 years ago? That has been the solution to a lot of those messages. When was the rear differential fluid changed last? When was the transmission fluid changed last? What other drive-ability issues if any are you experiencing?

I bought it used, 3 weeks ago at an auction paid $14,000 cash, according to the car fax the trans fluid was changed at 86,000 and the rear differential at 82,000 miles looking at the Carfax history the car has a pretty good history of maintenance . The battery has a date stamp of 2017. Had it check out yesterday said it was good , Was gonna try again today and have someone else check the battery just to make sure. Thanks for your input.

Car drove beautifully for at least a week then one day I noticed it would not go into electric mode. Then next day everything was ok. Week later all the messages came on when I went into reverse,

With that information, I would question the replacement of the rear dif. Many Acura dealers do not have a dedicated NSX/RLX Sport Hybrid tech as they get special training to work on those cars. I would inquire as to the qualifications of the tech before letting them make an assessment. I would take it to another dealer and have them evaluate it. It may be an erroneous code that needs to be cleared if you are not experiencing any driving issues. The hybrid system is just about bullet proof as long as you do the fluid changes as recommended.

Also wanted to say that at Acura Dealer they hooked it up to the diagnosis machine and that’s what’s coming back to change the rear differential. I also feel the same way I believe they don’t know what they are doing. I’ll try calling the Acura where the first owner took it all the time they have all my vehicle history there. It’s a little far away but it’s worth the try

Also just change the battery all messages cleared, and the car was running in park switching from electric mode to gas. After about ten minutes I decide to make my move. As soon as I put the car in reverse to leave the parking area all problem messages came back the car has the technology pkg

Gerald,
Among the inexpensive troubleshooting options, one is to check the battery connections. (They should be quite clean and tight - the connection can mimic a weak battery.)
If you mean that 'messages cleared' is deleting the acuralink notifications, that DOES NOT clear the codes. The notifications will come right back.
It is unlikely the codes will clear even with the 12V battery disconnected for a while.
Find a good shop with a decent OBD scanner that can find all the systems in the car and actually clear the codes. (That will not be one of those harbor freight $50 type of unit!) Have the shop record which codes are set before they clear.
Then see what codes, if any, come back.
I have also heard on this forum that the battery sensor near the battery terminals can cause various codes to set.
If you might want to consider acquiring a good OBD scanner, there is a very recent thread in this forum on that subject.

I was looking in to a 18-19 RLX sport hybrid, and had not heard of this issue. Do you have an inexpensive fix for this rear-differential replacement diagnosis?

2014 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid Multiple Message Problem
I don’t believe it’s a rear differential problem the Acura Dealer must’ve caught the Coronavirus thinking I was gonna fall for that. I’m having the car worked on at the moment at a local mechanic that I’m good friends with. I’ll update as soon as everything is done.

That is the correct amount they charge for a differential. Mine was replaced but not at my cost. I brought my 8 month old '17 SHawd in for a rim repair. The contracted company came to get the rim. Their tech put a jack under the differential to raise the rear end and with it being made of aluminum naturally caused the casing to crack.

Update: Ended up being my rear differential was bad along with the Body Control Harness. New Body Control Harness from Acura $1600, I got a used California car 2016 rear differential with 29,000 miles $1600. Acura dealer installed both for $1600. Car runs like new again

WOW! That is not an insignificant cost.
It is especially disconcerting to me as i have been keeping an eye out on a used SH for a while now waiting for the right one to come along.
What was the reason it went out in the first place? Was it really a missed fluid change?

Yes I’ve heard this is something that rarely happens to the differential. You shouldn’t worry about it. This car is driving like new now. Nice car to drive. Power, luxury and great gas mileage
