Hi , I have a 2014 RLX all of a sudden my Bluetooth audio is not working also cannot access vehicle settings nor able to add/delete phone list. I have tried disconnecting the car battery for few minutes and then tried the Bluetooth. Problem was fixed but next day again lost the audio and cannot access or edit Bluetooth settings. Done the self diagnostic and getting a Red error for HFL, TCU and Mic.
Do I have to replace the HFL module ? That's going to hurt my pocket as The part is very expensive. Called the local dealer and they want to charge $175 just for diagnostic and part is around $700.
Please if you know any tips and recommendations I'd really appreciate it.
The price of the Acura HFL is around the same price as adding GROM Carplay. You might have to check out the GROM on 2020 RLX thread to see if by-passing the Acura module would give you the 100% solution with GROM carplay. I haven't looked to see if the 18-20 RLX GROM will also work with the 14-17 RLX?

Grom uses the onboard BT to route calls. If OEM HFL is bad Grom isn't going to magically fix this for you. You'll have to replace the BT module or go without it. Have you considered 3rd party BT to FM transmitter? Not the most eloquent fix but it's cheap and works well, at least in my older Hondas back in the days. My SIL 2010 MDX also had HFL failure. Known issue for these older Hondas/Acuras.
My Bluetooth is fixed on its own and been working for 2 weeks now. I was going through the self diagnostic system and I did something the usb memory extract and then it started to download some update. Since then my self diagnostic is giving all green colors.
I had ordered the HFL module online so I ended up returning it for a refund.
To clear up confusion about what current situation exists with utilization of the Hands Free Link Bluetooth system and how the GROM Audio VLine 2 uses this Honda built in device for hands free calling as well as security authorization for wireless connections:
Apple CarPlay
Uses BT Hands Free Link to provide security authorization between the iPhone and the GROM VLine 2 just prior to handing the session connection over to the VLine wireless CarPlay system. Once completed, no information is being passed through the BT HFL any longer. All mirroring and call info is then completely by wifi through VLine 2.
Android Auto
Uses BT Hands Free Link to provide security authorization between the Android Phone and the GROM VLine 2 just prior to handing the Android Auto mirroring session connection over to the VLine wireless Android Auto system. Once completed, all calling information is being relayed through the BT HFL. All Android Auto mirroring info is then completely by wifi. YET, all calling is still being routed through BT HFL Honda hardware.
This will be changing soon because GROM Audio is nearing a release of a full Android base OS upgrade as well as a full Graphic User Interface upgrade. Once completed the Android Auto connections will work exactly as the Apple Car Play connection authorization and then Android Auto will be fully independent of BT HFL for calling.
No info yet on whether the VLine 2 will shed the need for the BT HFL altogether.
