TPMS on winter wheels

Anybody know if the 2020 RDX automatically 'sees' new TMPS? I have winter tires on separate wheels that have TMPS. Will the RDX auto recognize these or do they need to be programmed at the tire shop?

They have to be the newer 433 mhz sensors thought. Older 315 mhz ones wont work.

Absolutely correct.
I had an old set of summer wheels and tires from my old gen 2 that I thought worked as there were no error codes on the dash but after a while the error for missing TPMS did show up on the dash.

From what I have read they should auto recognize, you need to drive about 19kl/hr 10 miles per hour for a short distance. If they don't recognize the sensors , drop the tire pressure down to 20 lbs wait a few minutes & then set the tires to the proper pressure, this should cause them to trigger a low tire pressure signal & then be recognized by the vehicle. I just bought 4 sensors 42753-T6N-A01 for my new 2021 RDX so I'm hoping this will work, but I haven't tried it yet.

Hi all, I just picked up a 2021 A-Spec, moving on from a 2017 Elite.

For winter wheels, I have an older set from a 2016 RDX with TPMS sensors.

I have read the new RDX won't read the old sensors.

Is the only consequence the TPMS light will be on when using the old wheels/tires/sensors?

Can it be turned off? Does it flash?

I'm debating getting new sensors or not...if i do, i will likely get new winter tires at the same time rather than paying to remount and balance the old ones which still have good tread but are 5 years old.

Thanks in advance for the help.
