Squeaking sound from drivers seat

I started hearing a squeaking sound from drivers side seat since last month. Does not seem to be related to outside temp. I can hear it when I shift around in the seat. I initially thought it is coming from seat back lumbar support. But when the dealer looked at it, they said it is the right seat bolster due to an air pocket in that. I was able to replicate the issue by pressing on the right bolster. Dealer could not do anything and said this is how the seat is. But they seem to aware of the issue as instantly they said it is the bolster just by hearing the sound when I was pressing on the seat back. Left bolster has the airbags so maybe there is no air pocket in that, so no squeak. But not sure why it is not there on passenger seat. I made a short video for this. Below is the link. Has anyone else faced this issue and got it resolved?

I did open a case with acura on this but they also did not have a clue.

So I actually have the same concern. In the world of issues it’s low on the totem pole, and it didn’t initially bother me, but now I pay attention to it, and it’s starting to annoy me. Did you ever get some additional clarity/info and or did you get it fixed? Thanks!

I am yet to follow up on my case for this issue. But the rep I was working with mentioned that a very few have reported it for drivers seat only. I can hear it on passenger seat too if I squeeze the bolster by hand. She said would pass on the details to the engineers and get back with updates. It been almost a month without any update. I think this is not on their priority list as not many people have opened cases yet. So best bet is to open a case and keep following up.

The squeaking has increased now and is very annoying. So I took it back to dealer and they agreed that it is not normal. Dealer asked me to call acura client relations again and open a case. Client relations told to ask dealer to fix the issue under warranty. So I am going to call the dealer again tomorrow. Hopefully they fix/replace the faulty part or whole seat.

Interesting to hear. Please let us know if you get a case number and/or the dealer response.

Thanks.

I was able to finally get a case number from acura but my dealer said they cannot do anything until acura approves a replacement. A case manager would contact me next week.

Got a call from client relations. They talked to the the dealer Service manager and he felt that squeaky seat is normal after 3000 miles. He told them the noise is coming from leather and pads. The reason he mentioned miles is because new cars in showroom are not making this noise. So they closed my case.
Since I was not satisfied with this explanation they suggested I go back and speak directly with the service manager. I did mention that service advisor himself told me that he has the same car and with similar miles seat does not squeak. But I was told that service manager trumps service advisor. So next time I need to speak to service manager. Other option is to try a different dealer. But nothing that client relations can do.
So I guess I need to fight it out with the service manager now.

Client relations/manager is all useless in my opinion. I put in case, CM called and left me a voice mail. I called back the next day and left her a voice mail. I did not get a call back two weeks later. Her response was to defer me to the dealer to address these issues then hang up the phone. I told her I am disappointed the fit, trim and build quality of the vehicle is so poor. I guess calling me back is just a check in the box. Moving on. I still have a few more issues for the dealer to fix.

Posted a video above on youtube. Can others please check and confirm if their driver seat side bolster makes this sound? This is the one on the inside. The outside one with the airbag does not make any sound. So that suggests maybe if I can stuff some felt/cloth inside this bolster somehow, the sound would go away.

Any update on this? did acura agree to replace it or fix it? Mine has exactly the same noise from the driver seat. Currently mine has 8.5k miles on it.

Mine does not squeak, sounds like Acura does not want to pay for it and attributing it to “wear and tear”, which is BS

Nope, they did not. My dealership service advisor asked me to come in when the acura rep comes to their dealership. But I have not tried that yet. Also the sound went away during summer, and came back with colder temperatures. Have you tried talking to your dealership yet?

Thats absolutely annoying. 3000 miles is such a thin excuse. I truly hope you can get it fixed under warranty. Acura needs to step up with their service.

The noise went away during summer and came back again during winter. So I reported it again when I went in for getting the brake TSB done. This time the technician opened the seat back and noticed the squeaking was coming seat cushion rubbing against metal frame. So he applied some foam tape on the seat frame where the contact was happening and viola - no more noise. 🙂
It's been 3 days since this fix was applied and I do not hear the squeaking any more. I will update here if I have any more observations. Really happy to get rid of the annoying noise.

Answer:. I took mine to a car upholstery place. The guy unzipped the seat cover, stuck his hand way up to the squeak, and discovered the seat pad was running against the frame. He took a few pieces of Dacron folded over and placed it between the pad and the frame. Zipped the seat cover back up and tucked everything back in place. He didn't charge me a dime! Took 15 minutes tops.

Squeaky Seat easy fix!!!!

This squeak drove me crazy! Acura wanted $1500 to analyze/fix it. I took mine to a car upholstery place. The guy unzipped the seat cover, stuck his hand way up to the squeak, and discovered (by feel) the seat pad was rubbing against the frame. He took a few pieces of Dacron folded over and placed it between the pad and the frame. Zipped the seat cover back up and tucked everything back in place. He didn't charge me a dime! Took 15 minutes tops. I had to come here and tell everybody, because this is such a pain in a fairly new car!!

there is a tsb and it should be under warranty. if your dealership wants $1500, i will file a complaint against them.

Did you literally use your issue as your username? LoL. That's awesome.

I have the same squeak from the side bolster. It never really bothered me though. Ironic that that noise doesn't, but the interior panel rattles drive me nuts. Thanks for the info though, I'll try and see if I can remedy the issue with this advice.

I'm pretty sure a TSB isn't a free service. It's simply a common issue that the manufacturer knows about. If it's covered by the warranty, it will be free. I don't believe noise complaints are covered under warranty by Honda/Acura. Your dealer may do it out of good will, but they don't have to.

I agree that if the warranty expires, dealerships dont have to fix the TSB issue for free. but I disagree that the noise complaints isn't covered under warranty. Acura has a bumper to bumper warranty for 4 years that covers all items other than wearable parts like brake pads. The seats have a design fault that causes the noise. It is definitely covered by the warranty and the dealerships will bill the service to the manufacturer.

Good to know. Might just take it in for the new rattle I've gotten, since I'm pretty sure it's coming from beneath the dash on the passenger side and I'm not willing to start tearing into that one.
