Major Problems 2019 RDX
Hello All
I have a base 2019 RDX and have had issues since around day 2.
I have only 4700 miles on the car, and this all started around the 80 mile mark.
I've brought my car in 3 times for squeaking brakes.
The first time they shaved the rotors...brakes continued to squeak.
The 2nd time they replaced the entire braking system.
Low and behold, the brakes started squeaking again incessantly about a day later.
In addition to the squeaking, I was getting an unnerving "clunking" noise around the area under my left foot upon braking. THIS was especially scary as it felt like something was about to crack or disconnect from the system. SO...
I brought the car in a 3rd time for squeaking brakes and this scary clunk sound.
I was assured everything was perfect when I picked it up..and THEN...it started again. The squeaking , The clunking...
4700 miles and this is happening? (4000 at that time)
I didn't bring it back in at that time - life took over.
but NOW..
The other day, I was in reverse backing out of a my garage, and when I pressed the 'drive' button..THE CAR WENT INTO PARK. Over and over again , the car would go from reverse, into PARK when I would press the DRIVE button. I had my husband come out to witness it just so I didn't think I was crazy.
This is insanity. It sounds like I definitely have a lemon, but I honestly am not sure where to go from here - other than back to the dealer.
I obviously feel incredibly unsafe in this car.
Any thoughts??
thanks

Wow! As for the squeaky brakes there is a brake TSB that address that issue. Just had it done on mine and no more squeaking. The other issues, try documenting it on video before going back to the dealer. Hold your ground there and don’t let them blow you off. Your drive issues are not normal and the clunking sound you need to try and get audio/video of it also if possible. If you don’t like or trust your dealer try another if nearby.
My 2019 RDX A-spec now has 6800 and I had many issues since day 1. I reported to Acura corporate and put many cases in. The brake TSB is recent. Took mine in last weekend. Dealer replaced both front rotors and rear pads only. The technician did a sloppy job leaving black greasy lubricant all over front right rotor. I clean it off with brake cleaner but some I can’t get off. I painted my calibers red. Tech must have slammed them or something causing paint chips on all four. I complaint to the service advisor but the damage already done. I will just touch it up once the winter is over.
Lesson learned not to buy a new generation or major redesign vehicle.

Try a different dealer's service department. There is a service bulletin for squeaky brakes, if the Service Adviser does not know about it, try a different dealer.
I got lucky as my Service Adviser works with a Technician who also owns a 2019 RDX.

UPDATE:
I got my car back from the dealer 6 weeks ago with the brake problem FINALLY fixed. BUT... within 24 hours of getting the car back, I tried to close my sunroof when getting home, and it wouldn't close.
It has now been at the shop for 6 WEEKS while the sunroof motor is on back order from Honda.
I have contacted a lemon law lawyer who gladly took my case, but I am now driving a loaner Hyundai sedan from the dealership as the sunroof motor is on backorder indefinitely.
I am floored.
Does anyone else know of a similar problem? This is just beyond ridiculous.

Sounds annoying
This sound like a real PITA! Debatable on whether it's a major problem, though.
As an example, I had a major problem with my 2014 Mazda 3 Touring. A transmission manufacturing defect caused the transmission to irreparably fail at 80,000 miles. They fixed the defect in the 2015 and later model transmissions. I was out of powertrain warranty, and mine failed. Mazda gave me $1000 toward the repair, but I still had to shell out $2800 for a new trans. They should have done recall or covered the whole cost, in my opinion. It was the first model year for the car.
I will never buy another Mazda.
