Question Intermittent fails to start - need to jumpstart

I have a 2019 RDX and what I think is a strange issue. BTW I have had the battery checked a couple of times and it's OK (apparently). 4 times in the last 4 weeks, I will start it up, drive it with no issues and then park it for a few hours - sometimes this is for a hike, other times overnight. But when I return to the car, it either barely turns over and starts up, or it only gives me clicking noises and does not turn over. But once it has started again (using a jumpstart if it failed to start), it starts operating fine again in that I can park it overnight and it starts up and operates just fine. So this happens every now and then and I can't see a pattern that would indicate it's about to happen again. One symptom I've noticed that "seems" to precede this happening is that when I put it in reverse, the rear driver's side proximity sensor (just the one) goes solid red and gives an alarm even though there is absolutely nothing there. This sensor issue will continue until I turn the car off and restart it - at which point it clears. Not sure if it clears all the time but I have experienced it clearing. It seems like I am doing something, or there is a glitch in the system, which is causing an electronic function to keep running and consuming battery power. Once the car is "reset" and I drive it a bit to recharge the battery the car operates as expected.
I would be very interested in suggestions about what is going on and what I should look into.
Thanks!

I don't know, it sure sounds like the battery is weak. Do you have a charger you could put on over night? On our 2020 RDX I've found that the charging system is not very aggressive when it comes to bringing the battery back to a full charge. During the pandemic when we weren't driving very much I could tell the battery was getting low because the idle stop would quit working. It would take 3-4 hours of steady driving before the idle stop system would work again. And that was with the battery still charged enough to easily start the car.

I agree that it sure sounds like the battery is weak and I intend to take it yet again to have someone look at that. Interesting that a sign of the battery being low is that the idle stop system does not work. I will keep a closer eye on that. This last weekend, we drove the car for 3 hours to another city so lots of time to charge. While there we did very little driving but I'm sure opened the back tailgate a few times to unload the car when we arrived (which I'm sure is a battery draw). And then out of the blue after the car operated without any issues this entire time we had parked the car at a coffee shop and when I went to restart it could not - and I jumpstarted it.

The dealer battery test in my experience isn’t totally reliable. I’ll give an example…my 2013 Accord on 4-year battery once would not start on a return to an airport. The car had been parked for about 10 days. The dash lit up, some clicking of relays, etc. was all I got. Years ago a test for battery condition was to turn on the headlights and judge them for brightness. Nice and bright! Repeated attempts the car started without any issues but this happened about once or twice a week. Some research indicates a TSB to unbolt the starter, rotate the torque converter one bolt hole and then reinstall (or replace) the starter. Dealer wanted $1200 to do the torque converter rotation and replace the starter. No dice on my part. I went to an old time mechanic who still has an old fashioned load bank of battery tester. These thing draw about 100 amps from the battery. It failed miserably. Battery was replaced almost 2 years ago and I’ve never had a repeat of the problem. Torque converter nothing touched. Get a test with an old fashioned load test, not these handheld devices. Or, at five years, maybe just replace the battery.

This def sounds like the battery is weak and needs to be replaced, the fact that you keep jumping it, it starts, then dies again, is pointing to the battery. Black Friday deals are going on!
