While having the hood open on a new 2021 Advance yesterday I notice the engine had a constant ticking noise, similar to what I’ve associated with a lifter tick. The salesman said that’s completely normal for this car. Is he correct? Doesn’t seem right to me, especially for a vehicle with 12 miles on it. Is it reasonable to ask them to have their techs review it and sign off that there is nothing to worry about prior to purchase?

That would be the fuel injectors. Direct injection is noisy and does sound like a faint lifter tick.
