When should the engine coolant be changed or advised to change? I assume it requires 10 quarts of coolant.

ideally every 50k miles. Waiting for MID is too long. I am curious myself on capacity and DIY steps.

I do not think its a good idea to wait until 100k/7yr to change your coolant.

It's not that big of a deal, It will be fine. I could see if the car was having cooling issues or something.
Getting on Bernardi's site now to order some though.

IMO, 100k/10 years is probably okay, then 50k/5 years after that (since you don't get all that much coolant out with a drain/fill, subsequent service has a shorter interval -- as did transmission fluid). The manual used to say 120k then 60k, back before the Maintenance Minder. Personally, I will probably do 60k/6 years on my wife's RDX. since I tend to over-maintain just a bit.

All manufactures are stretching out maintenance intervals on everything in order to make their cars more attractive with lower maintenance cost. I've seen cars stating 120K miles and 10 years for coolant. This is crazy. With time coolant degrades its anti-corrosion properties and can start eating away your water pump and head gaskets. If you are DIY, this is cheap insurance.
I also changed my transmission fluid at 30K miles, and plan to change it every 30K miles.
