2019 RDX soft brakes
Proud owner a less than 2 week old Black A-Spec SH-AWD here. I went to the dealership yesterday and explained to them what I read and how I felt the brake was a bit soft. The rep looked it up and said I qualified for it and with no questions asked. They did even though I was a walk-in and definitely felt a difference after. Now I have to undo the adjustments I made for the last two weeks when braking 😅
I complaint to my dealer about my 2019 RDX having this issue and they refused to do the software update by saying they couldn't replicate the issue and that is a normal behavior, the loaner 2019 RDX they gave me had the same issue, I asked to test drive a 2020 RDX at the same dealership and breaks were OK like they supposed to be but still they say is normal behavior for both cars. Of course this is BS and I'm complaining to ACURA directly.
2019 Brake Software Update
Just had my second service (B16 at 16,000 miles) done this week and printed out a copy of the TSB regarding the brake software update. Service writer wanted to know where I got it and said he could not just apply the update if there is no problem with the brakes as its not a recall. I told about this web-site and that the TSB's are published here and other places and also told him the peddle pressure was not firm and linier and I almost rear ended a couple of vehicles because of that. He said he needed a reason to do it and that was a good reason. All I can say is the peddle pressure is much improved and I have a more confident feeling about the brakes.
EBB update
Just went through this with the dealership. Told them about the soft brakes...they went for a test drive with me and said they couldn’t “replicate” the problem. I insisted that there is a software update for the electronic brake boost and presented them with the service bulletin that I was able to find via this forum. They finally did the update after that. Not sure if I 100% trust them after this whole ordeal...but it feels like the brake feel is much better now. Hope it’s not a placebo effect, but only time will tell now.
New to forum. Have test driven 2019 RDX a couple times. Like the car, but brakes are stopping me from buying. Initially, I was shocked at soft brake pedal. Still have to apply brakes extra hard, doesn't feel natural. I notice some of the magazine reviewers have also commented about that.
My question is - Can the brakes be adjusted to have more bite? Can this be done with software, or would it require different master cylinder, or what?
Current owners - Are you OK with the brakes as they are?
