10 months after I installed this harness, 2 services to the Acura dealer for regular maintenance, the device is working flawlessly without causing any problem at all. Best of it, is the price has dropped to RMB 158. That is less than USD 25. I am very satisfied with it. Here is the link if anyone still interested. https://m.intl.taobao.com/detail/det...d=568193210424

Sorry for the inconvenient, the link is a smart phone version and I just realized that it may not display properly without their apk installed. Just to clarify,
the site is not a hack, Taobao is a shopping platform just like eBay, Amazon, Wish, Aliexpress...etc It is mainly for buyers from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. You need to have an account to shop from the site just like any other online shopping platforms. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taobao To get their products to North America, we have to arrange our logistic company.Fortunately, there are plenty of those logistic companies in Vancouver. I apologize if it caused confusion to anyone.

I installed one of these in January '21 and love that it just works! But I'm curious... Has anyone used one of these for any other functions in the car? I am planning to add one for the Brake-Hold button and just wanted to see if anyone else has done the same.

no I haven’t but that is a good idea. I love the function. I built my own idle stop circuit, and should be close to the brake hold. Stay tuned.

you wouldn’t happen to have a supply list and a general how-to as to how you wired it up, would you? I’d be interested in trying to build my own.

There like a 1/2 dozen links in the 3rd gen RDX here for idle stopping.
Here is one of the first:
https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...hutoff-991181/

I mention some products I looked at and now use.
There are two on this page, one $17, the other $34, here;
Amazon Amazon

I got both, one for another little project, and found that either works great. The $34 is a wifi enabled and a little overkill, since you will set it and forget it. I also used a relay to separate the timer from the idle switch circuit.
I made a short pulse to ground 40 secs after the start of the car. The car uses the 12v to 0 edge to trigger. That pulse drives a line to ground on a switch on the dash. I did not remove the switch, just tapped into it. The relay acts like a parallel switch with the manual one. The manual switch is fully functional. It is a PITA to get to the switch, and there are instructions in the other link above. I just tapped into in, brought the line down near the anc box under the dash, and stashed it down there. you will need 12v from somewhere that stays hot when the car is started, like the 12 cig lighter that is located 6 inches from the stash location. I already had a 12 v line i was using to turn my sub on/off from the console, so i just used that. PM for any more details, be happy to dig up a drawing, which i think i made....

Now that was for the idlestop. rereading your question, you may be asking about the brake hold, which i like alot also. If that is the case let me know, i have schematics I can poke thru to see what the signal is like, and this same circuit may work. let me know.

Thanks for the info. I haven’t looked through the diagram but I figured that there may be a way to create a loop that could be plug and play. I thought maybe you had created one and had the part numbers for the male/female clips as well as the pin outs.

I like that the brake hold turns off every time, honestly. It makes it easier to back out of my garage by just lifting off the brake. 😀

What is the reason people want to disable to Idle-Stop? Stopping th engine is surely part of the MPG rating of the car, so you're probably losing milage

That system is wonky and I like to turn it on vs. it being on automatically. It seems stupid to have my engine cut off and on when I'm pulling into my garage, which I would question wear and tear vs. saving on gas or when my engine shuts off and the guy at the light moves up 10 feet and now I have to decide if I want to start the engine to move up or be "that guy" with a car length in front of me. I think there are pockets when it might save some gas, but I like to control it as being off with the choice to turn it on IMO.

I have one of these on order and will be installing soon. For me:
  • I’m very rarely in a situation where traffic warrants the shutdown. I do turn it on periodically if it is warranted.
  • My car seems to have a fair bit of vibration on restart which I do not particularly care for, and I have caught it start to cut out and restart if I didn’t get the brake pressure quite right (which I am sure is hard on the engine, missing a cylinder or two as it does).
  • With it off/disabled, it’s less bandwidth to use on getting the timing and brake pressures just right (for short stops) and more to the things that matter (other traffic, pedestrians, upcoming hazards).
  • I have also seen my fair share of stalled vehicles from this “feature” although the ones I have seen are not Honda/Acura (mainly Stellantis brands).

If I wanted a car that kills the engine for efficiency and does so more smoothly, I would have bought a hybrid.

Just installed mine and it’s 100% awesome. A breeze to install too. Not a single screw. Perfect plug-and-play with OEM wiring.

Finally, no more almost killing myself or stressing my engine when I gun it from a stop sign to pull ahead of traffic and forget that I didn’t turn that worthless feature off!

i got one a year ago, and after looking at taking off all those panels, on the video
i got cold feet and never started.

breaking an interior panel would be a bummer.

so i have continued to push the stupid button.

Im right there with you. I will do my own fluids, brakes, alternator, axles, control arms and tie rods, remove the entire exhaust..... BUT when it comes to interior trim I also dont like to mess with it. Im always afraid of it not going back 100% perfect and it will annoy me forever. Even though I know I will be 10x more gentle with my own car than the kids working at the dealer. However, when they break something, they just get to grab a new (and free) part off the shelf.
