Hondata FlashPro for 2019 RDX

Has anyone tried the Hondata Flash pro yet. Seems like a great performance upgrade that delivers 36 lb-ft more mid range torque and 28 more mid-range horsepower in Sport and Sport+ modes for $695 and appears to be warranty friendly.

https://www.hondata.com/flashpro?product_id=215 Check out the dyno numbers for stage 1 and stage 3

not sure how this is considered warranty safe, anytime you change the engines tune they will always know your reprogrammed the computer even if you program it back to stock

I think he was just guessing, hence the "appears to be" phrase. I would agree the dealer would have cause to cancel the warranty if they knew the ECM had been reflashed, but I consider that the cost of doing business. If that Hondata tune (or another) cranks things up well enough, plus gets rid of some of the throttle response lags, I'm in.

The dealer cannot cancel the warranty or refuse to service a problem under warranty unless they can prove it was caused by the tune. The Hondata stage 1 and even stage 2 tunes are very modest and should not cause any issues with the engine or drive train.

You're dreaming if you think a dealer won't care. You'll be SOL with any powertrain issues. They don't have to prove shit.

Legally they do, real life who knows, it’s like fighting a brick wall, unless your willing to pay for a lawyer

I wouldn't throw another ounce of power at this new A10. Knowing Honda, this auto trans is likely already at its limit.

How does that make any difference? The Accord makes less power than the RDX.

They actually do have to prove you tampered with something. If the transmission just went out, they can't deny the warranty. If they can prove you flashed a tune (which, from what I'm told, there will always be a memory of you flashing it, even if you flash back to stock), then yea, you'll be SOL.

I've spoken to both Hondata and Ktuner, they both say that if you flash back to stock it is undetectable. They say they have the same software as the dealer and you can't tell. Now having said that, that doesn't mean that Corporate Hondacura might not have a way to check.

It looks like Ktuner will have a beta version out soon of their tune for the 2020 RDX if anyone is interested.

For the 2019, but not for the 2020. Looks like the software is different. I don’t know what changes were made though. The version numbers are different.

Of course the tuner companies will say that. In this day in age, I doubt Honda and other manufacturers (ie: Subaru, BMW, M-B, etc) haven't designed something to tell when a tune was flashed or not. With cars like the Type R, I'm sure Honda knows there are going to be plenty of dummies who push the limits too far and send a rod thru their block and try to get a new engine on Honda's dime. These manufacturers are well aware of Hondata, Ktuners, COBB, APR, Dinan, etc ... on top of custom tunes. I could be wrong, but I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a trace.
