Cat back or axle back options
Cat back or axle back options
Seeing if anyone else besides GRP makes a cat/axle back or similar. Or custom that sounds good. I haven’t heard any good clips that don’t sound tinny and ricey af. The GRP had that raspy/tinny sound, but it might be all the ones with it are running a down pipe also. But for 2k it looks well made just doesn’t sound it to me. Heard one in person with down pipe and was obnoxious inside and out. I’m not interested in pulling the resonator since it creates ill drone and straight piping from the axle back sounds like doodoo. Again raspy/tinny/shit sound. I’m not looking to be heard from a block away, just heard when I’m on it essentially. Last exhausts I did were on German turbo cars and they sounded great. Picked up the RDX a week ago and needs a lil more sound since had no exhaust note and haven’t been able to find much for a vehicle that’s been out for 4 years. Looking to see if anyone did muffler swaps out back etc and had any luck getting some decent sound. Thanks
Disclaimer: I am not an expert or even a geek, but I have owned a lot of different cars over the past 50 years, and have modified the exhaust on all of them except the Mazda CX-9 and this RDX. The engine is a 4 cylinder turbocharged engine. If you listen to the cars these engines propel, they sound "tinny" and certainly don't give a challenge to a Mustang GT.
I really like my RDX and it is not the same kind of car as my Mazdaspeed 3....on the Speed I put an exhaust system and most of the other mods of the day; but I've decided to keep the RDX classy. Lowering was a must for me; done. I'd like to replace the brakes with a PowerStop package with drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads (which I did put on my Speed) for around $400 + labor. That's gonna wait because Acura replaced my brakes without asking them to when they were working on my infotainment system, as it was a factory recall.
Right now I have the stance I wanted, the "go" I needed with the K-Tuner Stage 2, and I have pretty much been satisfied with the car as it is now. I am sure I will get on-board for other mods as they come into fashion here, but for now I an just lovin' this car!

I hear ya on the exhaust note. I’ve heard a few of the 2.0 with exhaust and they all sound odd to me. Whether it’s the tlx, accord or the R. The 2.0 in other manufacturers sounds good with an exhaust so was hoping it wouldn’t sound Honda-ey if that makes sense. I’m not looking for a race car just to be able to hear it some.
Personally have the GRP w FBO and don't find it to be raspy at all.
It does however have major amounts of drone, for a 4 banger it sounds much better than the traditional B18's K24 etc.
I heard that GRP is working on a new system, Kooks is the maker of the original offering and from what I understand they've made some slight tweaks to improve drone and tip placement.
