Tool to remove screw for cargo hold downs?
Tool to remove screw for cargo hold downs?
I am trying to install the spare tire kit and these screws are locked in good. I have a phillips #3 bit for my drill, and I was able to get one loose. The second one cammed out a few times so I am stopping as I am afraid of stripping the screw.
What tools do you all suggest to get these screws out?

"JIS - or Japanese Industry Standard - is a Pacific Rim standard used for "Philips" (cross) type screwdrivers. Most people, professional mechanics included, don't even know that such a thing exists. But every "Philips" screw on a Japanese vehicle is not a Philips screw at all, but a JIS screw"
Aside from a big hammer and a crowbar, this is the handiest tool you could ever own. I loaned mine out about 10 years ago and haven't gotten it back yet, but when you need one, there is absolutely no substitute.
It is not likely a phillips, looks like it, but probably a JIS.

See post #2. Get the hand impact driver and the correct size and pattern bit. The tool is cheap, the body man's best friend (like for those phillips head screws holding the door hinges together), the batteries never go dead. The spinach is optional, the tool is a necessity.
