Red background within the emblem 'voids?'

I've seen threads about painting or wrapping emblems, rings, etc ...

I'm wondering about applying red to the "A" badge background? Along the lines of the red JDM 'H' I've seen w/ the Accord and Civics?

I've never wrapped a thing in my life but I'm thinking about starting.

I only see vids and posts about doing the actual 'raised' A and/or ring - perhaps there is a reason?

Something like this:
  • the rear is a 'nicer' real red that I sampled from the tail lights on the pic. The front one is pretty 'rash' - it's just 'red' from MS Paint...

just to let you know, underneath the rear emblem is merely a black sticker more or less, if you want to keep the emblem chrome or change to oem black or otherwise, you can easily cover it completely while the emblem is off without having to have the steady hand needed to cut out an overlay around the logo.

for the front, that would be much more difficult IMO, since the emblem is underneath the coating, in other words, the logo is not raised to make this a simpler job. You also may easily notice from side views that its an overlay.

The ring is separate from the logo/radar but looks like you want to keep it chrome so no worries there.

If it were me, i would find a local custom shop that could possibly cut an overlay and install it, that way if its not right its their problem. idk im not great either at using an exacto knife. also maybe they could create a full overlay that would not tint the emblem.

But keep in mind, covering the radar WILL affect the lane keep assist. i have ~25% tint on mine and sometimes the LKA loses the lane, esp at night.

i think if you do that in the front like that, add a little more red somewhere to balance it out, maybe the air vents, but you would need to remove and have painted, i think would look cool.

whatever you choose good luck and post pics!

Thanks for the info! Do you know if ONLY the LKA would be affected or other 'systems' like the intelligent cruise control or whatever it's called? I know behind that emblem is the radar 'box' (I remember seeing it when I took off the front bumper cover). Maybe I'll just do the rear w/ a new piece of red vinyl under the existing badge. Seems easy enough.

In my case, I have not noticed any issues with cruise control, honestly not sure but I would guess just lane keep and CC are affected.
