My dealer advised me it was recommended I change my HEPA OEM interior air filter. My 2019 RDX is 7 month old. With about 14K miles. Is the service request realistic?

 

The dealership can charge up to $100 for a $5-$20 air filter that takes minutes to replace. I purchase replacement cabin filters on Amazon and replace every spring before pollen season hits. I like the types with activated charcoal like EPAuto or FRAM Fresh Breeze.

 

The cabin air filter is easy to replace. The engine air filter is another story. Amazon has some very high quality and inexpensive aftermarket air filters less than $20. I bought OEM but the brands mentioned in post 2 is just as good. I plan to buy aftermarket the next time I need to replace them and save myself a few bucks and a trip to the dealer. You just have to work a bit harder to gain access to the engine air filter.

Does the RDX require 1 or 2 cabin air filters? I remember one of my past acuras required 2 cabin filters.

 

One FRAM CF11182 Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter is all that is required.

 

+1 Fram Fresh Breeze. FWIW I don't think any cabin filter is really HEPA, but I'd be happy to be proved wrong.
