I took the plunge and decided to Ceramic Coat my RDX over the weekend. In the past with my vehicles, I only have used a hybrid ceramic spray. Here are the details:
Friday Evening: Cleaned RDX with Chemical Guy's Clean Slate to remove wax. Then re-cleaned a second time with 3D Water Spot Remover and then a third time with Clean Slate. I then Clay Bared the entire vehicle.
Saturday Morning: I performed paint correction consisting of polishing the entire car by hand with Meguiars Ultimate Polish and then used a DA Orbital Polisher using Meguiars Ultimate Compound on certain sections containing scratches and swirl marks. I took an air blower and blew off any debris from polish. I then degreased the car with a chemical wipe and then went over a second time with an Alcohol Wipe (50/50 Alcohol and Distilled Water. Paint was spotless and ready for the ceramic coating.
For the coating, I used CarPro CQuartz and applied 2 coats on all painted surfaces and headlights. 1 coat on the wheels and 1 on the windshield (not really recomended). I had a little left from the 50ml bottle.
I let the coating cure for 48 hours before driving. Overall, I spent 10 hours from start to finish. Let's see how it holds up. Manufacturer claims you get 2 years of protection if properly installed,
Looks great! Any comments on whether or not the RDX paint is considered “soft”? Bird poo etched our brand new paint in less than 24 hours which makes me think it’s got soft paint. I’m collecting supplies to do a light correction and ceramic in the next few weeks.

Supposedly, Acura is known for having a softer clear coat than other manufacturers, for whatever reason. I don't know if that's true, but I saw it mentioned on a couple of car wash articles, so take it for what it's worth.

Most Japanese, and Acura is no exception, have very soft clear coats. One wash with a brush and you've got significant damage.

OP car looks great! I just picked up a black one as well, and it has bird crap etched into the clear. I really don’t feel like paying a detail shop for paint correction.
I have a call out to my dealership to see if they’ll do anything about it. Car only had 6 miles upon pickup. I feel like that should have been taken care of at prep before delivery.
I come from the Audi world and haven’t had this issue in the past. Interesting to hear all the comments hear regarding the soft clear on these cars.

If you just took delivery of the car and the mark was there, I'd go back to the dealership and tell them that the brand new car has paint damage.

Agreed, and I did. Well, sort of.. I called this morning (Sunday) and left a voicemail with my salesman since they were closed. I’m sure he’ll call me back in the am when he gets in with a resolution. Worst case, I’ll swing by when I get a day off and show them in person. I’ll update here with what they say.
I just now finished detailing my new RDX. wash, clay treated several times, did NOT polish, looked ok. treated isopropyl several times, did two coats of Armor Shield IX ceramic coating. i hope after all that work it will last! keep us posted how well your coating lasts!

For anyone who might have read this and is curious, I picked up the car today. Dealer did a paint correction to remove the etching in the clear coat. Also added the black chrome emblems. The car looks great! Now to look into this ceramic coating...
