I have an iPhone 12 with IOS 14.4.1. I just got my 2019 RDX Tech and I am noticing some odd behavior with receiving and sending text messages. In my 2014 Nissan Altima the text messages worked great. When I received a text a notification would appear in the middle of the screen with options to read or ignore. If I chose read then the car would read the text and if I was stopped then it would also display the text. Though I couldn't dictate a reply it did allow me to reply with one of several "canned" messages. It also allowed me to create my own custom "canned" messages. With the RDX I've noted the following issues:

• The text notification only appears in the secondary notification area
• The text notification only stays displayed for about 10 seconds
• After about 10 seconds the notification disappears and you have to go to the messages app to reply to the message
• With an iPhone the only reply options are the 5 or 6 "canned" messages
• Though there is an option to create customized messages, if I select the option it says it's not available for my phone.

It seems odd that you can't create simple custom "canned" messages for the iPhone. I was able to do it with my Altima. Obviously CarPlay works much better and allows you to dictate messages just like on your phone. However I don't usually use CarPlay because I find it inconvenient to plug my phone in when I get into the car.

Does anyone know if there is a work around to any of these behaviors?
