Question Unable to update via OTA - software update process crashed

Hello there fellow RDXers - Long time lurker here and looking to see the quickest way to reboot the ECU (?) without going to the dealership. Seeing an issue with the update process ( "Unfortunately, com.honda.auto.softwareupdate has stopped." ) crashing everytime I start the car therefore unable to perform the recent OTA update.

Do I need to take a trip to the dealership or is this a simple reboot of a certain module ?

Thanks in advance.

lucky for you I’m stuck in the same situation and the reset didn’t help. I’m avoiding Acura dealerships…might go to Canadian Tire to see if they can do something

Turn car off

Oh I have done that 100 times. It is saying that it is trying to download the software but never can do it. I have left the key on so that it can set for an hour or so on the driveway trying to get the software uploaded to no avail. I am assuming that the car is talking to the Internet to download the software rather than through my phone app but that is only an assumption.

apologies for the delayed response. I downloaded using the car's built-in hotspot. It generally should be easy and just make sure you have cell coverage.

The download itself shouldn't take that long; it's the installation that usually takes between 10-30 mins.

Good luck!

The download should happen using the car's built-in hotspot, though you do have the alternative or switching the network. Mine was fine using the built-in AT&T hotspot.

Right, there's no "reboot" option per se, unless you disconnect and reconnect the battery. Though not sure if you want to do something that drastic for this.

Thanks... Im also a dinosaur at times re technology. Never bothered with auto Hotspot as we dont usually spend a lot of time in the car and have always relied on phone & tablet connectivity.

Updated my Wi-Fi password in the RDX under settings and then hit the update button. Just sits for hours saying that it is loading 😵‍💫

I suggest you take it to the dealership and have them assist you before the update deadline.

I wish it were that easy. I’m over 3 1/2 hours away so I’d love to figure out how to do it on my own. I plan on giving them a call tomorrow so maybe they’ll have some ideas. That’s the price to pay for living in the sticks but wanting to drive a nice vehicle.
