Too heavy on the highs for me, my fix: Lower the ceiling

I have found my '22 RDX Advance to be a little heavy on the highs. (lows at a little disappointing compared to my 2014 MDX, but they are well tuned)

What I did to compensate was to lower the level of the ceiling speakers a bit. It did lower the sound field from about eye level down to my chest, but it still sounds REALLY good. I think it's just that the ceiling speakers are too small to produce mids/lows and so the overall effect (to me) seems unbalanced.

I've also found the highs to be over-emphasized. Especially at higher volumes. I've played with the treble setting but hadn't thought of adjusting the ceiling speakers. I'll definitely give that a try.

Run-in the speakers more, and they should soften up a little bit. But yeah compared to 3G MDX which has a mellower, more balanced tone, the focus on RDX is to extract details.

I’ve noticed this after 3 months with my 2022 ASpec/Advance. The speakers needed a little breaking in. Sounds really good now.

Yes, let's hope so.

I have mentioned this before on this forum, and still hear he shreek type of 3khz or so. The system just has a hard time going loud. I trim the mid down 2 notches and treble down a notch. Leaving bass alone. I also have another sub that takes care of the 60hz and below. And I put the roof speakers on middle. I also play with the front/rear balance a notch one way or the other. There is a lot of glass to reflect off of also. Put down the windows and it sounds better. It is what it is. Not sure if replacing the speakers with something like morel’s would help, since the system is tweaked for these speakers.
