RDX SW Update for Android Auto?
RDX SW Update for Android Auto?
New owner here (2024 RDX). My wife was driving home today and while using Android Auto the screen went black. She was able to get back to the home screen and use the native functions. Questions:
1) Is there an RDX SW update for Android Auto?
2) Generically, if I want to update the system, where do I obtain the update if I choose to install using a USB drive? Acura website?
3) Does "System Update" cover all the updates for the vehicle/head unit?
Thanks in advance.

The "System update" menu is the place for RDX software updates for infotainment. I believe the 2024 RDX is on F1.2.2 as the latest, although everyone is hoping that the newer F1.3 and F1.4 versions from the 25 RDX and 25 TLX get offered to the 22+ RDX also, as they are supporting full-width Android Auto.
Map updates are USB-only, but there is hope for a wifi-map-update feature in F1.3 or F1.4, since some owners manuals leaked with a new wifi-map-update screen.
Android Auto screen blackouts can also be Android's fault, so can also disappear when Play Store pushes an Android Auto update (they don't publish changelogs but I've experienced buggy vs non-buggy months with no change to car software, presumably due to phone updates).
Non-infotainment car updates are only available via a mechanic/dealer who has Honda iHDS software, those updates are generally covered under warranty, and sometimes further covered beyond warranty if under recall. Reading through the TSB section of the forum can usually tell you what updates are available.
One of the TSBs is about a blank screen, due to an over-crimped wiring harness inside the dash. That should be warranty-covered if you complain to your dealer about it.
