Old navi database in a new 2023 RDX?
Just purchased a new 2023 RDX w/ Tech Pkg and looked at the Navi database version, it showed 2021.10.04? WTF? I go to acuranavi.navigation.com and put in vin/navi db version and it returns to download the latest which shows "Latest map database version available: 2023.01.03". Is it me or what, but how does a new 2023 RDX built in May/June of 2023 in East Liberty, Ohio have a Navi database that is so damn old? Do they not ensure software updates are at the latest before sending them out to the dealerships? And if for some odd reason the manufacturer wouldn't apply the latest updates to the vehicle, one would think the receiving dealership's checklist would ensure this?
Nope, not eager at all, and the RDX we bought was sitting on the dealer lot since the end of June with the Total Quality Inspection (TQI) performed by the dealer and signed off in the Maintenance Journal -- doesn't look like that includes checking software versions are up to date tho. At least I can update it myself, albeit it takes hours to download the latest via the HERE Map Downloader tool for MacOS. Looks like these maps are updated like once a year or so???
Congrats on your new RDX. It's very frustrating (and lazy and wrong) that dealers do not bother to make sure the cars they sell are updated with the latest Nav and general operating software...basically leaving that up too you. You would think a $50,000 +/- transaction would include that. We were set to buy a '23 GLC but the indifference over updating the software (special update) that involved the cars ($66,500 in this case) not starting was too much and we cancelled. Most important is getting their commissions and making their sales targets I guess.

My build date was July 2023 and I have that same version of the factory navigation. It is probably because they build a bunch of the head units and load the software they have at the sub-assembly factory and then when it gets assembled by Acura, there is no updating of the navigation software. why? most likely because "time is money" and they probably assume most people use CarPlay or Android maps.
On my sixth Honda vehicle and so far it has been great 😊
