New map is here
I just updated to 2024.03.13, since this is the last free map included with my new car subscription. It took under 45 minutes to install in the car which I left running in the driveway. It is good that they shrunk the install time, prior maps were taking over an hour, and the RDX auto-shuts-off after an hour so you couldn't install prior versions without driving around.
Unfortunately the speed limit indicator is also tied to the nav data. Which is another reason being over a year old is troubling. I went on the HERE website and edited the local speed limits that were wrong in my area, last year, expecting them to be updated then, but who knows how long the HERE review process is for edits, add that into the year-behind Acura is on updates and this system is beyond outdated.
Also, agree the update of the car's system is a mess, especially when other manufacturers are using OTA to update their map data.

Understood, but that has its own challenges, as the camera system is not perfect, with folks getting told the speed limit is 100 mph as it interprets a sign incorrectly. And yes, it is the driver's responsibility to know the speed limit and not rely on the car to tell them, but with a heads-up display you would hope there is a better level of accuracy for what it is showing constantly. If nothing else, you should be able to turn that off specifically without affecting the remaining projected information.

I'm no longer in this Camp. I now have a 25 ASpec Advance. The 22 MDX was turned in with $1500 Equity toward my new lease. No more HERE map updates. I will comment that overall notwithstanding that up to date traffic was very slow or nonexistent in the Acura NAVI system, it was very easy to use and used it almost exclusively bc of the crappy performance of the infotainment system in AA mode .
There's nothing during download, you get a popup when complete and you can just check the map version date in the software to confirm it increased after install. My RDX is in my driveway so I just kept it running in park during the update, and put an alarm on my phone to check it in 50 min. When I went to the car in 53 min it had already completed.
The doors don't lock with the engine on, so I blocked the car with my parked MDX so no one could get in and drive the RDX away.

I have updated my maps twice before. I have been trying to update to the most recent version (2024.03.13). I'm currently on 2023.12.XX. For me typically it would take between 45 minutes to an hour and I would go about my business once the update started (as in drive around when I know I'll be out for an hour continuously).
Anyway, looks like my luck ran out as I am not able to update anymore. I plug in the USB (the same one I've used for the previous two updates by the way), and the display shows a USB flash drive is connected, but I do not get the prompt that "Maps update in progress..." or whatever the equivalent message that pops up for a second before proceeding with the update. I've tried other USB sticks and no luck either. Tried manually copying the files to the stick myself, and then plugging in but still no dice. I want to say if there was an issue reading the USB I would get a a read error message of some kind. I'll try plugging in a USB with just some music on there to see if that works fine, if it does then it's something else. If it does not, then I am inclined to try blowing some air and maybe cleaning the contacts of the USB port with isopropyl alcohol. Other than that I am at a loss. I am about to give up on this. I do use Google Maps but have this is as a backup when there's no cell service or spotty data.
Has anyone plugged in a USB stick and NOT received a pop up message but eventually had their maps updated? Maybe that's what is going on and I should just leave it to see if that works?

Although I don't have that problem anymore with a new 25 MDX since Feb 1, 2025, I do remember a HERE Window pop up to say "my substriction expires on XXXXXXXXXX date (which was about 3 years since my Lease on the 22 MDX commenced). The Site Offered for me to renew the subscription at a "reduced Fee" for another year of Updates. I did not renew and was therefore, unable to download the most up to date MAPS. Did that pop up when you went to Download that latest update?
Definitely not worth it since CarPlay and Android Auto are superior and free.
For those that use the HERE maps, a new update is now available: 2024.06.10
The use of the word "update" in regard to Acura maps makes me think of a line from Princess Bride, “You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.”

In all fairness to Acura/HERE, the map updates sometimes brought incremental tweaks that improved the user experience. For example, at some point, an update added highway exit numbers on the map. It was a small touch, but useful for locating an exit with a quick glance.
Once again, after inserting the drive, it reads data for a bit and then displays, "Map update stopped. Re-connect the USB drive with the update file to start the process again." Removed and re-inserted the drive and everything worked from that point. This has occurred the last few times I have updated the maps.
