I turned it off and set it to use navigation data instead.

Are you suggesting that the speed limit information is obtained by reading the street signs?

Unless something has changed since the 2020 model year (which I own), the speed limit information is obtained from the navigation data. Perhaps this is a new update on the 2022 RDX.

After reading your post I began to doubt myself, so I covered up my camera with black duct tape to test my theory. The speed limit continued to change as I turned from one street to another, and onto the highway.

Its an option in settings to get it from Nav data or Camera recognition

So I downloaded both the 2021 and 2022 owners manuals, and discovered sign recognition was a new option in 2022.

Although your user profile, or signature, or your posts, do not indicate that you own a 2022 model, I assume that is the case.

My 2018 Accord Touring had HUD with Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), and it was based on the camera “reading” the street signs. The TSR functionality is part of the Honda Sensing platform and Acura has the same thing. i am not aware of a toggle between the navigation system / TSR determine the speed limit to display. My personal preference is to use TSR because it is actually very accurate and the display of 100 MPH is pretty rare.
