Hey Google kills all audio
Hey Google kills all audio
Since the last over-the-air upgrade issued by Acura for my 2021 RDX Advanced I have had a new problem with the infotainment center. There used to be a problem with Android Auto where if the cable connection was interrupted or removed (super easy with the low quality USB-A connector), Android Auto would be disabled until the vehicle was stopped - a major problem! Well, the update fixed that problem but introduced another. If a Android phone was connected via Bluetooth only, saying "hey Google" would shut down all audio in the infotainment center. No AM, FM, Bluetooth, USB, etc. could be used until the car was shut off and the door opened. I demonstrated the problem to my local dealer and they just acted like it didn't exist. They wouldn't replace the USB connector after my showing them a slight wiggle of the cable or USB thumb drive would break the USB connection either. The dealer stated "there is no problem with the USB port". Period.
If there is a contact number for Acura support, I can't find it. The seriousness of the software glitch with the Google Assistant should be serious enough to warrant a recall, or at minimum a "we are working on a fix for this problem" statement should be made, considering the recalls being issued these days over labels in autos and other such minor annoyances.

I have the same problem. It's the last straw for me. This infotainment system ruined this car and there's been no visible effort to enhance this system in any way despite having OTA capabilities. I've ordered the new Lincoln Nautilus and will be selling my RDX.

Hope that helps.
I too have the 2021 RDX and have had nothing BUT ISSUES since August of 2023 when I purchased this Lemon. Everything you and others are saying here, is EXACTLY what I have been dealing with. So thank you for making my issues feel normal since Acura just REFUSES to listen or help. My husband has had my car in the shop 5 times as of last week. Nothing changes, and nothing gets resolved. The USB is HORRIBLE! I even went 48hours without even having a basic RADIO in this so called "dream car" of mine. Super annoying! Happy to find others who also GET what I have been going through.
