I can't seem to get Waze to work on AA. Anybody able to use Waze instead of Google drive?

Nope. Waze doesn't seem to be available to us YET. You can use it on AA through your phone display if you want, just don't start up AA on the RDX display.

This is true with a caveat that waze doesn't currently work well at all yet. It won't keep up with my current location and is buggier than hell. Probably why it wasn't included yet.

To enable developer option is AA.. Go to your settings. Tap on the version number 7 or so times until you see the message about being a developer. Then click on the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner and select development mode. You have to turn on developer mode from there. After that you should see waze in your app drawer on AA, but it's not very usable at the moment. Have fun trying it out though.

I been using waze for the past week on my way to work and else where and i had no issues. all warnings on accidents and police and vehicle on the side of the road and traffic have been on point. maybe it's different for everyone i guess. but i been enjoying it.

The warnings seem to be fine. It's the display on the RDX screen. It doesn't seem to keep up with the phone... so location is off, how it displays is off, loses connection some... just way buggy for now. I have reverted to keeping waze on phone again. I hope they are actively working on this.

What phone do you have? You may have to make sure that the Android Auto, Google Maps, and Waze app are not being Battery Optimized by Android. Its on by default on recent devices where it disables apps when the screen is off to save battery. I had a Nissan Sentra car rental a few weeks ago and I noticed my GPS was all over the place. Once I disabled the Battery Optimization for those three apps GPS stopped being wonky.

Samsung s9+ . and as far as I can tell, battery is not optimized for those apps (the setting I can see is "put app to sleep immediately when it is not in use", which is off.
Waze (even through android auto) works fine on phone screen, it just won't sync with car screen well.

Hmm. I recently picked up a Note 10+ and I used Waze and Maps over the weekend and have not had any issues since turning off the Battery Optimization for these apps. So just to confirm, you went to this setting:

You should be able to see a list of all apps not being Battery Optimized. Maybe someone with a S9+ can chime in. The only other suggestion I can make is maybe try a different USB cable.

Thanks for clarification, that was indeed a different setting than the go to sleep when closed settings I was looking at. Tricky to find.. for me it was Settings/apps/choose any app/select Battery/Optimize Battery usage/(change to ) all apps/ (then you can change the AA and Waze and Maps settings).
I will test if this helps tomorrow..

Yeah I just use the search function in settings. There's literally too many settings in the Samsung phones. Also, make sure you have the latest Android Auto version 4.8 installed. Apparently, there is a known Waze GPS bug on the previous versions.

Well, I turned off battery optimization, installed AA 4.8, and tested this am. The first 15 or 20 minutes, it was still showing north up even though I was going south. And the car icon also pointing up, north...like it just couldn't figure out I was going south for 15 miles. Then suddenly it switched to heading up, working properly, by itself... (Waze in phone is not locked to north up).

Does everyone see the alternating screens every 10 secs or so? any idea what that is supposed to show? It mainly shows the same info as the normal view, just centers the current location.

It seems that this AA V 4.8 is not available in the Play store...? I have V 4.7.593824, and it doesn't show any updates available.

I suppose I could download and install from the link above to get V 4.8, but seems strange that it is not available in the Play Store.

My WAZE seems to work, although I can't figure out how to zoom in or out while navigating...tried it on a few short trips in town where I know where I am going, although it seems very "washed out" and I don't see anyway to make the map colors darker or have more contrast. I did find a setting on the phone app, but it didn't seem to make a difference when run through AA on the RDX screen. ????

I may just stick with Google maps, but it isn't displaying the speed limit...should it?

Yes, after extensive searching. Open you Android Auto App on your phone, not the car.
1. Click the menu bar, top left.
2. Click the three dots in upper right corner.
3. Click the very top item, Application mode. You want to select Run in developer mode. Waze should be in your Android Auto in your car now. I hope this get you up and enjoying Waze..

im presuming you have turned on developer mode already. If not do that first. This you would do in your Waze app by clicking 8 times on the version. Select developer mode.
