Wireless Charging and Galaxy S22

I just upgraded my phone from an S21+ to an S22 (the plus was too big for me). Now, after 5 seconds on the wireless charger, both the yellow and green lights flash together and the phone stops charging. I can reposition and it works for only another 5 seconds. I couldn't find anything in a search about this for the RDX but I found some threads on an MDX. Apparently the new metal backs on the S22 (as well as the newer iPhones) aren't compatible with the Acura wireless charger specifically - though they work with other wireless chargers. Some say you can carefully find the perfect angle to lay the phone while others say you need to wait for a fix (if any will ever come).

Any other suggestions? This would be very disappointing to me as wireless charging was one (of the many) reasons I got the RDX. Thanks in advance.

Have you taken the phone out of the case to see if it charges. Personally I don't use the charger since it is charging far to slow for me.

Yes I did. It is not the case. This seems to be an issue with only some wireless chargers (including Acura's) and the new phones with metal backs. But, following some advice on a different forum, I repositioned the phone on a bit of an angle (still on its back though) and just drove around the block and it stayed charging. I will need to continue tests with more aggressive driving to see what happens.

Sometimes the camera bump can causes issues as well. It causes it to not lay flat enough for bigger charging pads.

Excellent point. I am using a Spigen case which seems to even out the back a bit more but we will see. Per the MDX forums, apparently Acura has released a bulletin stating that this is a known issue since last year but there is no update on how/when it will be fixed.

I've noticed it will occasionally stop charging my iPhone 12. It has a pretty big camera bump so not sure if it's due to it shifting around on the pad or what. I wonder how big the actual charing area is in the RDX? My smaller charging pad at home, which attaches magnetically is much more stable.

One thing that happens 100% of the time- I always forget my phone is on the charger after getting out of the car......

LOL. That happened to me yesterday in Manhattan. I walked three blocks before realizing and having to go back. That never happened when I had one of those ugly dash mount holders .

FYI, slow charging is better for your battery. Using quick charge reduces the long term life of the battery.

FYI. My friend has a Q7 with a wireless charger in the center armrest. The Q7 has a reminder when you leave your phone in the charger after turning off the car. That seems useful.

The entire S22 lineup have Gorilla Glass Victus+ front and rear and are fully Qi/PMA wireless charging compatible. Your problem lies elsewhere, possibly the case.

I think I figured it out. It may be the camera housing. Since it protrudes from the back, the phone may not lie flat. I wonder if this is similar to a change in the iPhone in more recent models (because I saw complaints about them too). But one of the suggestions - to pivot the phone on an angle while still lying flat on the back) seems to have worked for me. I have had consistent charging for the last few days without a problem.
