235/55/19 is what I am running on stock 19” Advance rims.
You could save even more with 235/60/18 on 18” low-priced alloys or steelies.

I'd personally go with 255/50/19 to keep the width and diameter both the same as stock. The narrower 235/55/19 is fine if optimum snow traction is your goal, but you'll compromise dry traction and braking distances a bit by doing so. And the 255's will look better, of course. And obviously tire model will matter as well.

I threw CC2's on mine and it did excellent. I live in the midwest and it saw about 5-6" of snow though. However, that was on a 27% incline too, and still just fine. If you live in Ontario...maybe not so okay.

If you select winter/snow tires, by default you prioritize traction in extreme cold, deep snow, packed snow, ice, slush, etc. over high G-force dry traction. I’d go with 235/60-18s. I’d also research what type of winter/snow tire best suits where I live.

I'm also on 235/55/19 for my winters - I prefer the looks of a larger wheel even in winter and the cost diff between an 18 and 19 isn't that big (whereas a 20" is a fair bit more expensive and the selection is often not great).

P235 x 60 x 18 Blizzaks on Rial 18" wheels on 2021 Platinum Elite. The wheels have been a good investment and followed me with my 3 RDX's

I'm also running 25/55/19 snows on the stock Advance 19s and I find it's a great compromise between looks, snow traction and smoothness.

20s for snow is a waste of money, IMO, and 18s are ok but getting kinda chunky with those 60 area tires.

18s" are fine with me, chunky or not. Winter tires are Sorels at best. But I get what you're saying.
