Windshield Wiper Blades
Windshield Wiper Blades
Hello,
I am looking to either replace my stock wiper blade inserts, or just go with mostly likely, a much better aftermarket wiper blade. Is anyone on here using aftermarket blades? If so, which kind and how do you like them? I live in the Midwest, so they will see all 4 seasons.
Thanks!

So far, all I've done is replace the refills All 3 run me about $22 at any Honda or Acura dealer.

Is this hard to do? I can't find any YouTube videos of it being done on a 19+ RDX. I am not mechanical, but if I watched a video I might be able to figure it out.

My 2020 OEM blades have survived two Pac NW winters which included four snow storms, two ice storms, sub-freezing temps and countless miles in rainstorms and so far they are performing like new after 24,000 miles. Still swiping as quiet as a church mouse. Although...I do garage my RDX as much as possible and up here in the Pac NW we don't see a ton of sun, so these variables may have an effect on their wear 'n tear...
The back one is a little tricky. You need to keep the metal stays and inert them in the new refill before you install it. Then, you have to flex it to get it all the way into the blade. If there's a trick to it, I haven't figured it out.
Go to Acura dreamshop and type in your vin and it will get you the exact part numbers. Then google for various places to get that part number if you don't want to buy at a dealer.
For wiper rubber refills I usually get them at the dealer as online places are rarely cheaper after shipping.
For youtube how-to's the rdx works the same way as any Honda/Acura I've owned in the past 20 years, so google any model. First one you do will take 20 minutes as you learn/fumble with the metalllic inserts, after that it will be a 5 min job. Most important thing is to gently let the blade go back into the glass when the wiper rubber is out. Letting the blade slam onto the glass without a rubber insert is really loud and many youtubers say you can crack the glass.

Very easy to install. Rear one take a little wiggling - as the short refill metal informed blade take some twisting to get it out. Personally, I'd rather just do the inserts, as my wiper holders are in very good condition. My original set lasted 35 months, just replaced them as before the 4th winter with the RDX.
I am used to the PIAA wipers (which are great). The stock blades are NOT great, however I believe once I put some Rain-x repellant on the windshield, it won't really matter.
To my understanding, you barely have to use the wipers once you have repellant on there.
