Why is it hard to find a red aspec and whats with true car?
I posted earlier about buying a CPO RDX but given how long we keep our cars I think we're just going to buy new. My last 4 cars (Acura, BMW, GMC, Honda) were all bought with true car and the process was pretty painless. I got a bunch of price certificates and ended up going to my local dealer (who test drove the car with me) to have him match the price of the best one and bought the car. I put my info on true car and instead I have dealers calling me and asking me to come in and no price certificates. I think True car has changed? Are there any other good options to buy a car. I reached out on edmunds and kbb as well. I just hate shopping and wheeling and dealing.
Also, none of the dealers in my area have red a-specs with black interior (wife's color choice). One of the dealers said something about a parts shortage at the factory? Is this true?

I hadn’t used True Car before but I think used it when I was buying my Acura, and I wasn’t impressed. I ended up just calling dealers and going to a couple. Probably overpaid by about a grand.
If you really want to avoid the hassle and have very specific needs, you might consider hiring Tom McParland - he’s a writer at Jalopnik and is a professional car shopper. He might save you more than you pay him; automatchconsulting.com.

It was interesting having the a-spec loaner. It did look good, but it had a much harsher ride than my Advance and made me appreciate the comfort of my Advance even more.

I didn't get an A Spec as I wanted an Advance SH-AWD. When I got ready to buy I did the shopping thing and got the RED Advance just five miles from my house, fresh off the line (we live exactly 218 miles from the plant) and got thousands off plus a great trade in on my '17 CR-V Touring.. I wanted RED and wouldn't settle for anything else.
Oh, I think I got the car they built for JB but it got re-routed to Louisville after leaving the plant.

Looks very similar to the license plate frame that I use on my car, except its missing the lower mounting screw holes. Granted you can't see the flag because the plate covers it, but it looks cool if you want to run it by itself.

Three Wheelin'
My employer was offering a discount on cars/used cars and I used the service and it went through True Car, mixed results for me but some of that was on the dealerships. The savings certificate I received wasn't all that impressive (most was $300 off) but better than nothing I suppose. Also had one Acura dealership harass me so often that I told them to stop contacting me and I am no longer interested. I am in no rush to purchase and taking my time but you can get the same results by working with dealerships directly from my experience with the service.
