Updating maps
Folks,
Any thoughts on what I can try next to get the maps updated? Would be interesting in hearing if you have done it successfully which brand of USB drive you used. Also would be interested in hearing if it failed for you and you gave up.

In post 10 about, I listed what should be on the USB. Does yours have an activity LED and does it flash when you plug it into the data port? It can take a few minutes to find what it's looking for on the drive.

My current one doesn't have an activity LED. Looks like that may be one more thing to try before I give up completely. I will look for one that has an LED and is 32GB. The download software said I needed approx 16GB. 32GB will ensure less complication on the FAT32 front as well.
You can use the nav and infotainement system normally while it's updating.

I've used this easystore usb for all the updates and have not had any problems. The first update I did was with the car in "on" mode and a 10 amp charger connected to the battery. Since that first one though I've been doing it like NooYawkuh and waiting until we will be out for an hour or more drive.

It usually takes about 45-50 minutes for me. After about 30 minutes I turn the car to "On" mode for five seconds or so, then back to "Accessory" and I get another 30-35 minutes before the car shuts down. The update finishes in the second 30 minute time period.
I've never had a problem with battery drain doing it this way. Not much is on in the "Accessory" mode to really drain the battery (no lights, heater, A/C, etc.). I usually leave the keys in the car and leave for awhile or sit in the car and listen to the radio during the update.

While I have not had an issue with the Sandisk USB, and don't understand Acuras recommendation to not use them, I have ordered an Easystore USB 32GB to avoid any problems with future updates. Thanks GW208
Latest map version I'm getting is 2021.12.14. That's more than 6 months old.
I have never been asked to renew my subscription. So, I'm just wondering if any of yous with newer vehicles (e.g., 2021) are being offered later dated updates.

I just checked my 2021. The version is 2021.10.04 so I’m downloading 2021.12.14.
That is, apparently, the latest version available.
It says that my subscription expires 2024.03.11. Based on my delivery date of 2020.11.11, that gives me 3 years and 4 months of updates.
Like it costs them a nickel for me to download updates.. .Cheap f*cks.

Agree with the last 2 posts. I'm at 3 years and 10 months and map updates are still free. I think I have seen 3 or 4 year free updates though, so who knows which applies to you. And the process for updating is not great...no status bar to let you know where it is in the update process...the process of having to use a USB (our SIL's 2021 Ford Ranger does Nav updates OTA)
And "chicken shit" for charging a fee...yes it is...Garmin has free updates for life on a $2-300 stand-alone unit, all the Nav apps on your phone are free updates for life, and both the Garmin and the phone apps are far superior to the thing on the Acura. I wonder how much the Acura updates cost once that starts. The chances of me paying are about zero anyway.
And...updates that are 6-7 months old when released...really Acura?
