LexarŽ JumpDriveŽ C20c USB Type-C flash drive - Lexar

This cable not only has a flash drive, but a pass through to the phone itself for charging. Would be interesting if this works to pass information from the phone back to the USB port for Android Auto or Carplay.

 

While i cant comment on this i can say that sadey I purchased and tested a 3 port USB 3.1 hub from Amazon to switch between a USB drive and carplay on my iphone. Neither device worked connecting through the hub and would not even charge the phone. Additionally i got an error message about not being able to accept multiple devices.

I too, tried attaching a portable hub, but did not work. Even tried the Apple camera hub where a usb drive and power can be connected to phone. Car did not like that either. There is a setting in the developers menu in the car where you can enable a hub, which I am about to try, but, alas, needs to be set every time car restarts. ..maybe great for long trips where car restarting is infrequent.

 

Amazing that you can buy a third party head unit like Pioneer or Kenwood that supports this, but no auto manufacturer does this even though the masses are screaming for this kind of dual usb support. I had a Pioneer Unit with Android Auto in my 2010 Mazda CX-9 prior to the RDX and it was marvelous to be able to run Android Auto and listen to music or audio books on a USB drive...

 

I have an un-powered USB hub in a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, and it's working fine splitting between the phone and a flash drive.
