Trailer Hitch Length

I'm considering getting a trailer hitch. Waffling between the OEM and the Draw-Tite. I'd really prefer the 2" receiver but I'm worried that it sticks out too much. The OEM appears to stick out less, but that's in part because there's a cover that hides the hitch a bit. Does anyone know what the actual measurements are - how much longer either of these make the RDX?

This is mine, it’s the e-trailer drawtite class 3. I’m super happy with it. It doesn’t stick out too much imo.

Cool - and useful! Looks like it sticks out about 3-4 inches. Sound about right?

Yea give or take. It doesn’t bother me at all with the hitch sticking out. It actually makes it more utility like ; )

I like the look too, but I'm a city dweller who has to park on the street. So adding too many inches mean adding more minutes circling the block for parking. I've already gone from 180" to 186" with the upgrade from Honda to Acura, so I'm reluctant to add much more length. I might still do it anyway though.

The OEM hitch probably adds about 1.5", or about 2" if you put a cap on it. For the Advance trim, the "bump-out" of the replacement bumper panel extends about an inch from the rest of the bumper profile. That bump-out is most prominent on trims that have the hands-free-access sensor ( if you choose to retain that functionality ). But the hitch stays the same.

BTW, the back-up camera is your friend. Advance has a 360° vertical view, but I'm not sure if other trims offer a top-down view at the rear. I use that all the time for trailering on other vehicles. The 360° view is like cheating for parallel parking.

Thanks for that info. I got the Tech not the Advance. Anyway, I'd be using the trailer hitch for bike rack/cargo rack, not for trailering, at least not for the foreseeable future.

I have the draw tite as well. So far very happy with it. Have yet to hit my shin on it so I don't think it sticks out too far. I agree with others the more utilitarian look. One big plus is my partner ignores the backup sensors and camera it seems. They didn't pay attention to a low wall and the hitch took the hit for that car. A little tiny touch up paint and you couldn't tell. Wouldn't have been the same if the bumper took the hit.
