Meanwhile, Taco Tuesday comes on cinco de mayo but is buzzkilled by a Corona.

 

For those who may not know, Corona is a neighborhood in Queens, NY.

But the virus everybody's talking about is the RED CHINESE Wuhan Virus. CoVid-19 is the name given to it by the WHO.

When I was a kid, we called it RED China. Nobody calls it that anymore but it still is.

 

Yes, my son and his future wife, moved from AZ to Queens...Astoria to be exact, in 2009. Talk about culture shock! He had never lived anywhere but the SW!

We visited them there several times. They are back in AZ now, and are expecting their first child in June. Our first grandson!

I was born in the Empire State, Poughkeepsie, to be exact. My folks moved us to Los Angeles when I was 4, in 1955. CA was a vastly different place then. Even from a 4 year old's perspective! My wife and I moved our family to AZ in 92.

And yes, I remember it being called Red China. I also remember Nixon's Ping Pong diplomacy.

 

New York City born and raised here. So was the wife. She was a Bronx girl, I was from Queens, so she married below her station, which was Bedford Park, by the way.

Moved up to the suburbs when we bought our house.


Side note: my mother used to play Mahjong with Rose Garfunkle, Art’s mother.
