Splash guards

Hey everyone! I recently just purchased a brand new Black/Black 2023 RDX SH-AWD A-SPEC. I have scheduled to get the front two windows and windshield tinted this week. I've already switched out the badging for the OEM gloss black emblems. As a result of that i plan on switching out the exhaust tips to black. That chrome will just stick out like a sore thumb with everything blacked out. Once that's done and i get her washed up, i'll post some pics so stand by on that! (speaking of, which thread do i post pics)?

Reason for this post though is regarding splash guards. What do you guys think of them? Do they enhance the look of the Aspec or take away from it? What's the purpose?

Thanks,
David

I feel like splashguards are a double edged sword in some ways as they can add some protection to rocks and grease up on the car and can also give the somewhat optical illusion of making the car sit a bit wider and thereby lower, however without spacers, I also feel like they can bring attention to the fact that the wheels on the RDX sit a bit to far in, in my opinion.

Hope this makes sense.. Personally I run splashguards on all of my vehicles as I like the way they look. Go with what you like!

You are over thinking it. My RDX does not have splash or mud guards, the OEM comes are pretty low profile. However, given I lived/drove in the snow for a winter - have to say, the RDX does minimal fling to the sides. A good car wash weekly was fine.

Might depend on where you live. As you probably have seen, they are pretty small but we lived in snow country for 4+ years and they did help with the little tiny rocks that are put on the road in snow, and the snow/sludge spray from hitting the side of the car.

Thanks for the comments EFR. I live in NC so weather here doesn't get too crazy here with snow. So may not be needed. At this point it would be solely for the looks vs functionality. Thoughts?

Never had splash guards and don't like the way they look.

well we had them on all four wheels of our 19 ASpec. I liked the way they looked. They are small so nothing like a Peterbuilt running down the road of course. In some way they add a nice look, and some protection. In addition, we also added the running boards. Something else that was built a good size for the car and adds protection against rocks and sludge, and I thought they added a nice look to the ASpec we had. Of course others will feel completely different about the looks. All together I think they help add a little differentiation to your car. We also added a heated wheel, spare tire kit, and caliper covers…it’s a white on black 19 ASpec. I would not change anything we did.
