Rear Camera in the Dark?
Same issue
I have this same issue with my CPO 2018 RDX technology package. The backup camera is perfectly crisp and clear during the day but at night it’s blurry and grainy and I can’t see. I took my car in and had CarPlay and a remote start added and spoke about it with the installer. He suggested I upgrade my backup lights to LED so I did that. It’s very slightly brighter but still grainy and blurry and so aggravating. I was considering having my tech guy replace the camera with a better one but I thought I’d check here first. Is there any more info on improving the backup camera night image?

For me, the issues of a dark screen while reversing in the dark was consistent and repeatable. The screen normalizes after a rear parking sensor is triggered. Until then pitch darkness. So basically if I’m with someone, I put it in reverse, and have them walk behind the car to trigger the sensor and the screen normalized and then they hop in the car. Acura refuses to admit something is wrong and states it is normal behavior, which it clearly is not. Changing brightness setting etc will not do anything. This is simply a matter of telling the system to switch to night mode, apparently being dark is not adequate.
This is clearly a software issue as the camera is capable of switching to night mode but requires a trigger that is not happening until the rear back up parking sensor is triggered. Therefore I doubt changing the camera will accomplish anything.

I’m sorry. I am not trying to hijack this thread by asking about my 2018. I searched for a thread about bad night vision with the backup camera and I found this. I hadn’t noticed the 2019+ limitation.
BTW, I just thought I should mention I have noticed this happen to my car a couple of times, but only as a glitch. When it did happen, it rendered the camera almost useless. Fortunately it rectified itself. It makes me think this is due to a faulty sensor.

I recently bought a 2021 TLX with the Advance Package and I'm experiencing the same problems as the OP. After reading the posts above - and experiencing some additional issues with the car's audio system - I'm starting to believe that the processor for car's infotainment system is underpowered. My guess is that the designers added more bells and whistles than the system can efficiently handle - and the only way to fix the various problems is to replace the car's CPU, which would be very problematic for Acura. This would explain their response, saying the system is "operating as intended" (ridiculous, right?).
As for the audio system, the car doesn't seem to have the processing power to play the 5.1 USB files without crashing regularly with a "no device detected" message. After checking on a different forum for Acura audio users, I learned how to re-boot the system by turning off the car, removing the USB and re-installing it, and opening and closing the door. Crazy, I know.
P.S. I think the one poster above may be on to something when they suggested a complaint to the NHTSA. Back up cameras that don't work might qualify as a public safety issue.
