RDX A-Spec Wireless Charging is practically useless
I have a new 22 RDX A-Spec (Canadian model) and am finding that the wireless charger is next to useless. I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra so it's big, but it DOES fit on the charging pad and the amber light does come on and the phone says it is charging, so I know it "works". But more often than not, after reaching my destination, the charge has barely increased at all from where I started, and in some cases I am almost certain the charge has actually gone DOWN. I am uncertain therefore if this is a "feature" or a "bug" as in, are these charging pads notoriously underpowered and SLOOOOW or is mine potentially defective? Not sure if I should take it to my dealer for a look see, or am I just wasting my time and need to plug the darn phone in after specifically buying a car that features wireless "charging"?
In most cases, yes, the wireless charging pads in cars are slow. If you are using wireless Android Auto or Wireless CarPlay while driving and "charging" your phone, it may behave exactly as you mentioned.
Am I to infer from your reply that wireless "charging" is really meant to be done only when the phone is NOT being used? If so, what is the point of having a wireless Android Auto connection that 'auto-connects' when I get in the car, if I then have to turn off the Android Auto, or worse, turn off the whole phone, to have any decent charging? Who designed that? If that is the case, then the designers may as well have just left the wireless charging pad out since the USB charging is really the only viable option anyway....
Also, confirm that the wireless charging is staying on the whole time. Especially with the bumps on the camera, the phone often will shift and lose the charging connection. There are threads here about how you can try rotating the phone a few degrees after laying it flat. Before I did that, the pads light would turn amber for a little while then flash amber and green to show there was a connection problem and would stop charging.

For real. Try doing wireless charging with no case on your phone. You will see a big difference. It's not the car's fault, its just how wireless charging works.
