After the 'third' close-call in as many months, at the same dang intersection, we're finally installing a dashcam, (after a year, oops). I've been searching the forums, and I believe I found the part # I need for the clips in the A-Pillar that tend to break during removal (#3 in diagram), as seen here: Clip, Pillar Garnish 91561-T8N-T01 . However, I also see what appears to be another fastener in that diagram (#2), and I can't locate a part # anywhere. I've emailed two of the major online vendors, and no one even e-mails me back, boo.
Can anyone confirm whether item #2 in the diagram is needed/something prone to break during removal, or is that just some type of rubber 'plug' that I won't have any issues with?
(Just in case anyone is curious, went with the Blackvue DR900X-Plus, along with the B-124X external battery for parking mode. Had a 650 series for ~5+ years in our last vehicle, and never had an issue even with Texas summers, so we're splurging on their newest, ).
#3 is what I know breaks. But do I need #2, and if so what's the Part #?
I've done the install and the a-pillar trim is super easy to work with and I had no problems with the clips at all (I've pulled this kind of trim on many cars before). There's a video posted in the audio sub-forum that shows the steps and you don't really "remove" the trim so much as adjust it to run the line through it.
I literally have a bag of one sitting at my desk from dealing with all my interior rattles *dons flame suit*
It's a plastic clip and isn't prone to breakage, but I figured it was best to replace them with brand new ones as pulling them out only leaves room for even more rattles to occur. From what I remember, the dealer was charging $2.99+tax for each of them, which is overpriced, but they do feel much more high quality than the Chinese crap you buy off Amazon/eBay.
