I have a 2003 TL Type-S and was thinking of buying this:


and doing this:


I will be using it solely for longer trips of a few hours with the family (so not anywhere near daily use) and limited to a laptop and or mp3 player, etc...
1) How much wattage inverter should I buy?
2) Are there any potential hazards that I need to be aware of wih using such a product?
3) Is it necessary to hardwire it directly to the battery instead of using the cigerette lighter or is the latter fine?

Finally ........ how do I remove the middle console to install the inverter on the floor directly behind the rear ashtray?

Thanks in advance and I guess I'm just a little baffled with the whole thing and looking for some light shed on the subject.

run 8 gauge to it.... Those things draw power, and do run it to the battery... I can't remember the wattage ratings for those things but if you're going to be running multiple items at the same time, I'd get the biggest one I could find, and I haven't seen a ton of them...

Check here for inverters, I would go with at least a 300W inverter. You can hardwire it if you dont want to hog the 12V power outlet. I have had no problems ordering online from etronics. If you are running more than a laptop or game system by itself, the inverter may need to "breathe" or it will heat up. Consider placing it under the front seat if there is room. Hope this helps..
