Over the air updates

Do you park the car close to your wifi location and enter typical personal credential for the router?

Thanks,
TT

Yes, the RDX is logged into the home network. I see the "update available" notice every once in a while but there never is or has been an update.

My driveway is in range, and I have the car connected to the ‘guest’ account, which is 2.4 Ghz

Keep in mind it is not necessary to connect to Wi-Fi or maintain a data subscription in order to receive OTA updates. They'll download over the vehicle's cellular connection even without a data subscription.

Don't get your hopes up. There's probably no update available. Fake News!

If you hide the SSID of your network, the car won't connect even if you enter it manually. I had to unhide the SSID.

So certain are you.

It can't do OTA over a cellular network that is weak or non-existent at your location. And there are many such locations, in my experience.

Even if you don't have sufficient cellular coverage at home, there's a good chance you'll drive through good cellular coverage at some point.

Yeah, if I wander around the country long enough...

It's specifically the AT&T cellular network that is lacking.

Or I could connect to my home WiFi or park in front of the Acura dealer that is perilously close to my home. And perilously close to the Lexus dealer, should I be tempted by the dark side. But OMG that grill is hideous...

Are you old enough to get away with crashing your car into a Starbucks?
