Off-Center Steering Wheel

My steering wheel is off-center, probably 5 to 10 degrees. It has been that way since I bought the car. I never gave it much thought, but it occurred to me that it was possibly affecting my LKAS which I’ve always thought was terrible. I took it to the dealer and told him about the issue and asked him to check the alignment. I got the car back and he said alignment work was done but the steering wheel is still off-center, and maybe it’s just me but the whole thing feels looser - like it needs constant correction.

I’m hesitant to take it back to the dealer because I’m not sure they can be trusted. But maybe my expectations are unrealistic? Is correcting the steering wheel a reasonable thing to ask? Would it be part of the alignment check/fix? Is there something they might have done that would make the steering looser that I can have double checked by another mechanic?

This happened to my RDX after hitting a huge pothole. Got an alignment and now it's back to normal. Kinda strange that didn't fix yours

Who ever did the alignment at the dealer did not know what they were doing, or short changed you. Making sure the steering wheel is on center is definitely part of the alignment process. And "feeling looser" is not right either.

Typical crappy Acura service. Did they happen to install the heated steering wheel when you bought it? I added that when I bought my car and it came back 10 degrees off. There’s really no excuse for a tech not noticing that. They fixed it with an alignment, but it was a pain driving back across town.

Thank you. This is what was looking for. I'll be calling them tomorrow with some harsh words.

I don't know if they keep records but I'd ask if they have a copy of your alignment results. I've never had an alignment done where I wasn't provided a copy of the before/after results. And probably find a new shop to have it done at in the future.

Go to a few more dealers, and there will always be a more responsible person who will solve this problem.
