New RDX?

Getting back to AcuraZine after a very long absence. Considering replacing existing '16 RDX Tech Advance. Disappointed with Acura website showing same old exterior/interior colors and very limited combinations - which comes with what. Nearby dealer has RDXs and other models in colors not shown on website. Also not thrilled with 4-cyl being only engine choice, even if it's a turbo. Any comments very much appreciated. Thanks!

Interested what colors your dealer has that aren't on the site.

Colors can be specific by trim level.

It's infinitely better to drive than a '16 if you like handling. A LOT better. The '16 is lazy and ponderous by comparison. As someone who likes tight handling, back in 2015 I crossed the RDX off my list on that ground alone - even my wife could tell how much it floated compared to the X3 and Q5 we had test driven earlier that day.

The turbo is fine, gobs of torque under moderate throttle at low RPMs, though the 6 was certainly smoother.

Not sure about your gripes about colour - the truth is more color choices / combinations is one of the things you're actually paying a premium for when you buy German - they will factory build you almost any combination whereas Acura is more like mainstream brands and just gives you a handful of choices. If you want something slightly more custom, go factory order an X3, it has way more options (though the ones on dealer lots are far too often black leatherette on white).

The current RDX is worlds better than the 2016 model if you're looking for something with more luxury, more quality, and more all around performance. Frankly, I thought the 2G version was a bit of a embarrassment to the Acura brand - it represented the bean counters being in control. The current RDX doesn't fully fix that problem but is significantly better.

re: 4 cylinder - yes, it's not as smooth as the 6 cylinder and the fake engine noise is annoying but for daily use I doubt most people would even notice the difference between it and the 6 cylinder and you get the benefit of torque everywhere which pays off handily around town. It does guzzle gasoline though, expected to be shocked.

If you are coming from a 6 cylinder, be sure to do a long enough test drive to decide if you can live with the 4 cylinder. We went from a 2013 6-cyl Outback to a 2020 RDX Advance and I have a good amount of buyer's remorse for the lack of smoothness and engine noise mentioned above. Everything else is an upgrade, and I'd agree the 4-cyl turbo can be quite quick, but that's not really that important to us. Our next ICE car will be at least a 6-cyl no matter what other sacrifices we have to make, including paying much more.

Go drive one, see if the colors available in either the web site or the dealers lot are acceptable.

As for the engine, @272hp its pretty darn nice. My other rides are in my signature below, and for a daily driver, I really like my '22 A-spec Advance.

I updated from a '16 Advance to a '21 Advance about a year ago. Worth the effort. The turbo pulls hard. Not as smooth restarting after the auto-shutdown. Handles better. My main lament is they don't have a decent red, so I went for the blue. The only real down-side is the gas mileage.
