if Acura is priced at near the German counterparts, the sales will plummet.
With the new RDX, the price difference is very insignificant. I have built Q5, GLC and X3 to compare with the RDX, the price difference is a couple of thousands. RDX brings a lot of value compared to the German ones. That's why it sells well.
I don't disagree with you but price is no longer the sole reason.

It depends. There are options on the German cars which you can't get on the RDX (e.g. self parking). So when you option it at the high end an X3 (with the 2.0T engine) can easily go over $60K. It is not even possible to get close to that with the RDX.

Here is an example:

MSRP $62K.

The other issue with price is maintenance costs. I've been pleasantly surprised that the RDX's services costs so little and that itself would make me think twice about going back to the European brands.

really? I am pretty sure it’s about 8k difference for the same feature sets and similar size engine, MSRP.

and with Acura given greater discount, the out of pocket difference is about 10k

I think discounts are about the same. Many folks report 15-20% off MSRP on the German brands (excepting Porsche of course). That deal is typically not available on M/AMG versions, though.

FWIW, I bought 2 BMW 3 series with 10% off MSRP but only got about 2% off MSRP ($1000) for the RDX. I was in a desperate situation with the RDX, needed something quick and couldn’t drive far.

No one is getting 2% off right now for sure.

The discounts are always in ranges depend on what you negotiate on but 20% off msrp on a x3 is certainly not the norm. Go check on bmw forums....

I just did a quick check on advance model features comp, it’s is certainly in range of 8k-10k when you are matching features to features.

Just a wish list....not expected, and in fact I don't care about most of it. I really would like a V6 option vs all of these turbo 4 engines. Just listed several items that have popped up over the last year or two. I really wish that they would get the infotainment up at 100%, but honestly I am starting to look elsewhere.
