I think the first map update took me about 5-6 hours in multiple sessions. I was still running my old 802.11G router that was about 15 years old. After that, I just used my wife's desktop.

Successfully downloaded the 2021 map update to a 32 GB thumb drive. Inserted into the car last night but after two hours still uploading so I turn the car off. Started again this morning. Got an error message to reconnect thumb drive. Now the Accessory mode timed out after about an hour. Put the car in Start mode and upload continued. Have the car on a small battery maintainer. As everyone has pointed out the lack of an upload progress indicator is more than pathetic. Will try this one last time. This is my wife's car who normally uses her phone. My wife likes the car, but there are just too many basic flaws. No digital speedo, no HVAC mode for windshield and dash with huge windshield, and others. This map upload issue is just another indicated that Acura does not have complete designs. I think Honda is better.

I tend to update my map from the code downloaded to a flash drive when I have a trip planned for a couple of hours without stopping. I don't feel any urgency to update since most of the time I use Waze via CarPlay but I do like to keep things current on principles. I have not had any trouble with the map updates or the infotainment software updates either using this approach. I don't choose to fuss with the battery business and just wait until I am driving for awhile. I think I remember doing it once sitting in the car and opened the door to get out and the whole update stopped with no checkpoint restart ability to resume except from the beginning. I think I am at the current level with the screen showing map version 2021.08.04 and the software at D.1.6.2.

Mine took about 45 min give or take. I also drove around while it was doing it. I used a 3.0 usb. Have had better luck with the 3.0 drives even with music. Had to keep clicking into the maps and would say updating and then got an update complete message.

Every time I've done the update, I've used the same 32Gb, 3.0 USB. It always takes between 50-60 minutes. Never more, never less. If you're using a 2.0 drive, it might take longer.

I always do it while driving. I start it when I know I'll be in the car for at least an hour.

I have done all the updates except this one, so far. None of my roads ever changed.

I used a 32G micro SD card in a 2.0 USB adapter. Took about an hour to download (my internet speed runs between 15-175 Mips) and about an hour to update.

Don't notice any difference after either the firmware or map update but then we're not heavy users of either.

My maps was what the RDX launched with. A decent amount of the roads were wrong since there’s been drastic changes where I live and drive around. Going to one ways. traffic circles etc. the old map tried to take me down a one way the wrong way and into the Hudson. New map didn’t send me that way next time. Def helps since they also changed the highway exit numbers also. The older one had the previous exits, the new has the new number and old number. Also notifies you sooner of where you need to get off instead of when you drive by the exit. Map updates faster

I did the most recent map update (2021.08.04) only a day or two after the latest infotainment update and the traffic reporting is much improved. I don't know if it was the map update or that now the infotainement system is using the 4G LTE to download the traffic status.
