I only have 7,900 miles on my 2020 Advanced. The lower trim piece is already really beat up with nicks and scrapes, probably from this past winter's salt and cinders on the roadways. Since I am planning to have the car for 200K plus miles, I want to consider some options for this issue. Has anyone had any experiences with chroming? Not sure if that would be an option. I just fell like I am going to have to use touch up paint constantly to cover the black plastic.

Meh. Not gonna rust. If the inevitable nicks bug you or rock your world, you could replace the part and leave it "natural black" like the air dam below it. It's just a bolt-on.

The main part of my front bumper got a hole punched in it by some airborne projectile, and required a $1000+ body shop repair. That sucked. Just getting this part painted would probably be $100-$200.

BTW, I just checked my white Advance, and that part is natural black. Go figure.

Great information. Thank you so much. It looks like it is something I could easily take off and replace myself. I wonder if it is possible to get a replacement and have it chromed before I put it on?

I'm from Lancaster, PA too...we got maybe 2" of snow last season. I would remember because I bought a brand new Honda snowblower that's now sitting in the shed unused. Haha

The only way that might prevent any rock chips were if you had PPF installed on it. The thing is that add-on front lip is matte silver, having PPF would only make it shiny.

Traditional chrome plating on steel, aluminum, or other metals is an electroplating process that wouldn't work on plastic. I don't have a clue what kind of coating is applied to the shiny composite material on the edge of the bumper. This blurb on a commercial site details options, but buyer beware.

that lip looks cool, but it does block some airflow to the intercooler, right? ...just sayin'

The lip is a stock item. I'm pretty sure they engineered it with air flow in mind.
