Keyless Entry - funny operation

I gave the car a sponge bath yesterday. (I still haven't had the nerve to take it through the car wash.) I've noticed this each time I've washed the car. I have the fob in the hip pocket of my shorts and as I move around the car, washing it down, the car keeps locking and unlocking constantly. BEEP ... BEEP-BEEP... BEEP ... BEEP-BEEP...

As I get to the tailgate, it even opens in the middle of me washing it. And no, I didn't wave my foot under the tailgate.

Even as I'm hosing the car down, I hear BEEP ... BEEP-BEEP... BEEP ... BEEP-BEEP... It's as if I'm contacting the car through the hose and the water stream. But normally, the car doesn't lock or unlock unless I touch one of the door handles in the correct spot.

Just odd.

From the Owner's Manual...
The door may be unlocked if the door handle is covered with water in heavy rain or in a car wash if the keyless access remote is within range.

Just leave the fob in your house and the problem disappears

I like your idea best and no more automated carwashes for me. No hand washing outfits here so I did go once to an automated where they drive the car in. I am glad to have come out unscathed since the employees were lets say, challenged and almost wrecked the car not to mention one shitty car wash. Even asked up front if they know how to put the vehicle in neutral but no cigar. The automated car washes may be OK if all you have is a dusty car but if you have been on a long road trip, forget it.

I had a lot of hardened bug guts on the forward surfaces so I had to use a lot of Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover and a lot of elbow grease. It leaves a white residue but it washes off easily.

Why did I buy a white car?
