half year check in - rdx 2020
I gotta say I feel like I made the best decision possible. I ended up getting an advance shawd out the door in the mid 40's and given all the features, I could have paid a lot more for what I got. Plus it's faster, roomier and looks better than its competitors so I can't complain. Sure the mpg isn't that good but hey you can't have everything...
Hmm I compared the published numbers a while ago and the RDX had more torque/hp but not by much. I can say that the RDX just feels fast. I mean I get to the speed limit on the highway so quickly I can't even believe it sometimes.
Five months for me; zero remorse... zero.

No issues. Well designed vehicle. Haven't driven very far since December. As far as ' don't likes'. I don't like the fake engine noise and the relatively poor mpg. Some days I don't like the idle-stop. Other days it doesn't bother me.
Overall a good value.

Handling is definitely the RDX's strong suit.
It's not slow, but damn the turbo lag is palpable. The 5-60 time is much slower than the 0-60 time as a result of almost a solid 1.0 seconds of turbo lag. But once you learn how to work around it, it's ok.
I will say one thing - I took the car for a family road trip, almost 1600km in 5 days, and the seats are just SO comfortable. Those, along with the stereo, make the RDX a very pleasant place to spend time, even if its not perfect.

It's a bit of both. If you use the paddles to put the car into first gear and then floor it, it does take a while for you to get going as the turbos spool up. In all fairness, though, it's par for the course for these engines. In fact, I think it's no where near as bad as the X3 30i. I believe the difference between 0-60 and 5-60 in that car is almost a second and a half.
To me, it is virtually all transmission. If you floor it, the turbos spool up whether the car is standing still, or going 5mph. I can’t see how there would be a difference in spooling up the turbos.
The tranny, however, flooring from a stop takes off in gear, but when going 5 mph must drop to that take-off gear.
At any rate, I never floor the thing anyway. Those days are gone for me.

An additional element beyond these mechanical factors is PCM/ECU management. The function and response of the mechanical components is overseen by controller programming that was developed by powertrain engineers. There may be protections in that programming that manifest as delayed response. Regardless of the guesswork related to the interplay of these systems, there is something that creates a "soft launch" when I stick my foot in it.

When you take off from a stand still, you can brake torque it to put load on the engine, thus generating more exhaust gasses to spool the turbo up before you actually take off. When you're going at 5mph steady state, the engine is putting our very little exhaust, so when you floor it there will be some time before the engine starts pumping enough exhaust gasses to spool up the turbo. Hence why the 0-60 time for turbocharged cars are always faster than the 5-60 times (in some cases, exceptionally so).
If this was purely due to the transmission, then you'd agree that there should be no lag in the 2.0T 6MT Accord, yes? Except, there is. Not nearly as much as the 1.5T, but there still is some, maybe about half a second worth.
