Front Windshield Wipers Question.........

I like to lift my front windshield wipers off the glass in advance of snow & ice. Well tried to do this tonight on my 21 Advanced & could not do. It appears the design of the hood prevents lifting the arm other that a few inches? Did not play with them due to extreme cold weather. Can anyone advise?

And I'll be the reminder that this, and all other operations, are in the OM. (This is covered in the section on changing wiper blades) Get the full 650+ pg. manual if you haven't already. It's available in hard copy and pdf form.

A link to useful pdfs:

I use this.

Frost Guard windshield winter protector, from Amazon.

It keeps the snow on the guard and off the windshield, and, more important, out of the wiper well.

The main problem I have with that product is that it seems fine for the windshield, but that means it's sort of useless. I can see many people buying it so they don't have to clean off their windshield and then not cleaning off the rest of their car. Conversely, if you clean off the rest of your car, it seems like a fairly unnecessary product because cleaning off the windshield is not usually difficult with snow. The product may be helpful in situations where there's ice instead of snow (?), but I still don't think that it adds much more than defrosting would.

the problem is the wiper well. This keeps the snow and ice out of the well, which can be very hard to clear. Whatever it does for the windshield is gravy, IMO.

At the movement, in this NE blizzard with a foot and a half out there, my car is buried so the windshield wiper well is among the least of my problemos.

I've never been concerned with the wiper well. Usually whatever is in there will melt as you drive and then run out, right?

Both of my vehicles are in the garage and AcuraLink remote start takes over when they’re outside. Too much work putting this on and off.

try this - it is better than what is written in manual IMPORTANT: There is NO hood clearance when picking wiper arms up from

resting position. (Arms hit hood & inevitably will cause paint to chip unless the following procedure is done)

Moving Wiper Blades Instructions

With the engine on, PUSH the wiper switch upwards and HOLD,

then press the engine start/stop button and the wipers should

go to the maintenance position after the engine shuts off.

Always lift the DRIVERS SIDE wiper arm first, then the passenger side.
